The Kobolds of Tzarker Mines

I respect your point of view. Let me go into some detail as to why The Kobolds of Tzarker Mines is designed, and priced the way that it is.

When I was researching the kind of products that I want to produce, I spent a lot of time looking at products that are out there, how they are designed and laid out, how much and what type of artwork there is, how the maps are designed and laid out, as well as the writing styles involved.

I decided that for my first few products that I'm trying to emulate the size and quality of the 36 page full-color modules that Paizo has published for years, and gives you a full day or two worth of adventuring. It is an artistic and publishing choice. It means that along with a high-quality adventure, there is full-color art used throughout. I like the old Games Workshop products that would include a very short story or two which expanded your idea of what was going on in the book, and gave the work a rich feel to it.

Choosing this look and feel for the product means a lot of additional art, cartography, editing and layout expenses to bring this product to fruition. Also, because I am a new, unproven (for now) publisher, I have to be conservative with my anticipated number of sales when determining the price for this product.

To be clear, I am not saying that this product is straight up better than the one that you mentioned from Kobold Press (which is pretty fantastic), just that they are different creatures. There is great value in both, yet they are designed with different goals in mind.

I understand that there are those who would prefer content at a smaller price point, and I'm actually in the process of breaking the adventure up into three smaller one-night adventures that will be priced much lower. I hope to have those available by the end of the week.

I hope that this helps explain where you can find the value in this product and future ones that will be coming out.
