Also, just wondered, are these encounter maps and the VTT the same maps? (are there colour versions of these encounter maps lurking somewhere on a hard drive?) Thanks again :D

No the VTT maps are not the same as these maps. They are two completely different products. These maps (B&W) were designed to be printed at home or with Gamer Paper (the company). The maps can be used for various combat scenarios in Rise of the Drow but they by no means cover all the locations which appear within the books.

Rise of the Drow Epilogue VTT maps -

I would snag whichever of those is needed and try to make those work for your printing needs. Really the easiest solution is to throw up a VTT on any large TV and use, Fantasy Grounds, 3D Virtual Tabletop, or one of those programs to get some tokens on a map. When I game I'll use a digital interface to reference where the PCs are in relation...See more

Thanks for the help :) I'd love to try out VTT on my big screen yeah, is it easy to set up, which do you use? when you say digital interface, what exactly do you mean there? (ipad, laptop) you run VTT via hdmi (pc or laptop) or use smart tv's web function?
Thanks again

Thanks :) Are the VTT maps good to print?

The VTT maps are for virtual tabletops thus aren't designed to print out but with a little work you could probably make something work. If you need 1 inch squares you may have to break an image into multiple images using an image editor then enlarge each one to the appropriate size before printing. What are you looking for exactly? Perhaps I can send you in the right direction.

Really hoping for full colour printed encounter maps for Rise of the Drow (with one inch squares), similar to the black and white ones shown on the Underworld Encounter Maps above here.. Thanks for getting back to me on this, most appreciated.

Yes they are B&W.

If you're looking for color maps check out our VTT maps for the various installments of Rise of the Drow.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
