Here, there be dragons!

Do you need monsters to spice up the coasts, lakes, swamps, or seas of your Pathfinder compatible campaign world? Then look no further!

In addition to all of the aquatic, semiaquatic, and swamp-dwelling creatures that have been presented in previous Alluria Publishing tomes and statistics for representatives of all 30 Cerulean Seas player character races, our team came up with over 60 never-before-seen monsters, including a new song dragon, long-awaited aquatic lycanthropes, and supporting creatures for our existing supplements. Over 250 water-drenched monsters in all, each with stunning, full-color illustrations.

While this book is an invaluable resource for the Cerulean Seas Campaign Setting, Beasts of the Boundless Blue is also intended as a “stand-alone” Pathfinder Roleplaying Game compatible bestiary. No other Alluria Publishing products are required to get full enjoyment and use from these pages.

Most of the art featured here is stolen from online artists. Don't believe me?

Do we know whether the artists have consented to Alluria using their artwork in their products?

I went over the Art Index in the book, and as far as I can tell every artist is properly credited for their work, which I am assuming means they were also contacted and consented to have their art featured in the book.

You would THINK that this would make the artwork use legit, but crediting the artist is not the same thing as asking permission. I know at least one of these artists personally, and Alluria not only did not receive permission to use his work after contacting him, but most certainly did not pay for the right. This company is breaking copyright law, pure and simple.

I consulted one of the artists: they didn't get his permission. He said that he had worked with them before, but his contract had enough ambiguity that they could theoretically defend themselves in court.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
