INVESTIGATE strange occurances and supernatural sightings.

HUNT irredeemably evil things that torment humanity.

DESTROY malicious forces of the unexplained.

EVIL STALKS YOU IN THE DARK OF NIGHT

KNOW ITS WEAKNESS OR FALL VICTIM TO ITS HUNGER

There is a palapable sense of foreboding in the late fall night. You approach the decrepit manor house; a faint glow in an upper window tells you more stirs here than just the rats. Your tentative steps make the rotten wood floor creak as you enter the broken door of the house. A growl greets you from within; that's when you see the flash of fang in the lamp light.

CRYPTWORLD is a horror role-playing game in which you investigate and hunt the forces of the unexplained. The Crypt Master may design any world of horror he desires. Classic horror, slasher horror, alien menaces from the stars and interdimensional monsters. These horrors and more may greet you in CRYPTWORLD!

CRYPTWORLD is a role-playing game complete in one volume.

In this book you will find:

  • Rules for character generation
  • Optional paranormal talents
  • Creatures covering multiple horror genres
  • Advice for running horror games
  • An introductory adventure
  • ...and more!

CRYPTWORLD is the new official Pacesetter brand horror RPG, the Pacesetter horror brand successor, and is fully compatible with other Pacesetter SystemTM titles such as MAJUS, TIMEMASTER, and ROTWORLD.

Can't find any errata for this game, but does anyone know what the damage of a grenade is supposed to be? The rules say 15% catastrophic damage but that sounds way too low considering catastrophic damage starts at 100. Also, Ch 5 mentions there are rules for maps with scales of 10s or 100s of yards (for long range weapons) in CH 5 and 6, but I see none in the book. Another question I've had since the original Chill is if all Willpower calculations are based on current Willpower rather than the base (original) Willpower. For example, the Telekinesis power bases the weight you can lift on Willpower, but is that current or base? If it is based on current then I assume it is based on your current Willpower after it is used and not before? Willpower costs are so high it seems very restrictive if current Willpower is used. It is also not clear to me how TK attacks work, do you use the base skill for attack? Can you attack in the same round you lift an object?

Good game. I believe that the movement speeds in the Red-Eye introductory adventure are incorrect.
Should it actually be L 75 for everyone, with the cross that indicates movement like humans?

Thanks!

Just bought it, but I'd like to suggest putting some sort of preview up.

I had to scour the internet to determine if I wanted to get Cryptworld or one of the two later editions of Chill because I had nothing to compare them with.
So it took me a few days to decide and missed out on being an impulse buy.

Looking it over now. Seems to be pretty solid.

Hello, I had the opportunity to review Cryptworld for Knights of the Dinner Table, the entirely of that review is also available on my blog, here: http://withinthedungeon.blogspot.com/2017/03/rpg-review-cryptworld.html

I had the privilege of running it as a one shot and overall it went pretty well. Combat (as I guess at the time with my review) was very quick and efficient. We didn't have any skills over the 100% mark and we played only one session... But, as the CM I'd likely put a cap in there somewhere, or if we kept playing the system put a modifier (+10%/-10%) similar to that of Savage Worlds or other systems... Based on Target Cover, size etc...

Just some thoughts and thanks... To Tim for allowing me to do the review!

This is in reply to Eric C's review where he mentioned the "never miss" effect of any skill over 100%, and I thought I’d give you my thoughts. Agreed that any score over 100 is an “always succeed”. But even if someone has a 100% “never fail” ability, that doesn’t mean that they’re gonna crush someone with it either. For example, someone with a Rifle skill of 100 may hit every time, but if he rolls a 90 or higher, he only does a Light level of damage — hardly deadly. It still comes down to how WELL you hit (i.e., how far under your skill number you roll), not that you just hit your target. So crummy rolls have crummy effects, even if you never miss.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
