Deck of Fate

The Deck of Fate is here! If dice aren't your thing but you still like randomness aplenty, the Deck of Fate can stand in for the dice in any Fate or Fudge based RPG.
WHAT'S IN HERE?
The Deck of Fate is actually three decks in one! You can combine them together if it suits your play goals, or use them separately for a variety of purposes. In this package you'll find:
  •  A 6-card "Accelerated Arcana" deck: Six inspirational images, one for each of the approaches from Fate Accelerated.
  • A 9-card "Core Arcana" deck: Nine inspirational images covering nine concepts, with "aspect style" positive and negative takes on each.
  • An 81-card "Dice Card" deck: Shuffle this deck and draw to simulate the toss of four Fate Dice. Inspirational phrases are found on each card to give you cues on how to interpret the result.
SECRETS OF THE DECK OF FATE
  • The backs of the cards can double as fate point counters.
  • You can shuffle the Accelerated Arcana and draw from it to randomly determine your approaches for your Fate Accelerated character: first draw is the +3, etc.
  • Draw from the deck to randomly determine a character's aspect—or at least get a good starting-point. This works especially well with the Core Arcana, but can work with the Dice Cards as well.
  • If you're not using one or both of the Arcana decks, consider using a card per player as an initiative tracker: show the art when you haven't taken your turn yet, flip it over when you have.
  • Each Dice Card has a set of symbols on it: A mix of one to three Moons and/or Suns, or an Eclipse. Eclipses are found on unique cards. More symbols are found on cards where the dice combination is rarer.
  • You can tie "variable effect" stunts into these symbols; +1 per Moon or Sun, for example, with a special big effect when an Eclipse is drawn.

Please note: As with all card decks on DriveThruCards, the Deck of Fate does not include a box. Make sure to add the larger crystal box to your order when you're checking out if you need your Deck to show up with one. :)

I have an old Deck of Fate that I think I got from Amazon or similar, but the quality is meh (the cards feel like cheap "tourist" cards, rather than nicely finished "playing" cards). Would ordering physical cards from here get me better quality cards? (I've been pleased with other cards ordered from DTR, but wanted to check and see if these would be different.)

Hi, is there a chance for a grid version of the PDF to be uploaded, i.e., with four or nine of the cards in each page? It's easier to take to a printers with this format.

(I am trying to figure out it this can be done automatically with Photoshop or a Linux command, but to no avail. Help with this is appreciated too)

This is a year late but: I have done this kind of thing myself using the Foxit Reader PDF software. When you print a document, you can have it print multiple "pages" per sheet, so you could basically print the deck to a new PDF with 3x3 pages per sheet.

You may be able to do this with other PDF readers, but I'm only familiar with Foxit. The Reader software is free to download, though they'll try to convince you to install a free trial of their non-free editor software.

Anyone have advice on how to print these yourself? What stock should you use or printer settings? I purchased the physical artifacts, but they won't be here for a few weeks and I wanted to test-print a set.

A couple years late, but this may help others with similar questions:
I just print them on standard paper, and then sleeve them with something stiffer (cheap playing cards work fine). That way you don't "waste" money on expensive stock while you are experimenting.

You do have to spend money on sleeves though, which may violate your budgetary philosophy.

That's exactly what I did. I had a set of sleeves that didn't quite fit so I had to be creative with "print size" but ultimately it worked perfectly. I still haven't unwrapped the physical printed deck I ordered. :)

This is the single best game aid I've owned in years. That's all.

Sadly the packaging on these card is terrible and a handful of my Arcana have some mildly creased corners. It's not terrible, but something to be aware of for people who worry about such things.

You should certainly contact DriveThru customer support if you're not happy with the condition in which the cards arrived.

I was surprised when my cards arrived without a box. I suppose this makes sense with the number of cards, and the financial reality of print on demand. However, I would have appreciated some indication in the description that they would be shipped boxless.

I'm very happy with the cards. Now, I just have to go find one of those CCG stores to acquire a suitable box.

All the products on DriveThruCards are shipped boxless (they offer a couple crystal boxes as add-ons during the check-out process), so we hadn't thought to speak to that as though it were a specific, different feature of our specific product. Good note though!

It strikes me that a GM with a Deck of Fate could LARP Fate games with no changes to the rules. Just hand out poker chips or equivalent for Fate Points (to save on people bending your cards).

Anyone know what size FFG card sleeves would fit these?

These are standard playing card (poker) sized: 2.5" wide, 3.5" tall. Same sleeves that'd fit Magic cards or similar should fit these.

The standard sleves work great. However, they won't fit in the add-on box offered here after you stick them in sleves. For me I just now use the box to hold my fate point tokens anyway.

Imagen escaneada
