What is Solar Echoes? Solar Echoes is a role playing game involving small unit tactics set in a science fiction universe, with a fast moving game system designed to promote team-play by allowing players to coordinate their moves and decisions together, react to opponents at any time, and see all actions occur simultaneously!

What is the Setting? As seven alien races struggle to co-exist in an uneasy alliance, the Inter-Stellar Union sends Union Guard agents on missions to preserve the crucial balance. These specialized operatives must do what regional security cannot, dealing with smugglers, pirates, terrorists, and even greater challenges in order to bring stability to a universe that needs it desperately. Without the Union Guard, the races will not be prepared to face a looming alien threat they can only hope to defeat together.

A New Gaming Experience! Tired of waiting for your turn? Annoyed with having to chew through tons of hitpoints before defeating an enemy? Angry that you waited so long for your turn, only to roll a critical failure? So were we!

How Solar Echoes is Different from other table-top RPG's:

No longer do you have to wait on your turn:
Players plan their movements and actions together without a prescribed turn order, and can react to anything whenever they choose. Rules are streamlined and the game is designed to move quickly--just a single opposed skill check with a little added luck from the dice determines success or failure.

The game encourages tactics and team-play:
Players will find success is achieved by actively coordinating together as a team. Smaller hit point totals and wound penalties instantly make team tactics crucial. Every system in the game is designed to involve all players working together.

Experience a variety of gameplay challenges:
Solar Echoes involves a range of scenarios including squad combat, starship battles, car chases, and even dialogue and hacking encounters. This is all conducted under an efficient and easy to learn game system.

I was about 10 when I started role playing, my first game being Dungeons and Dragons back in 1979, but I also discovered Traveller back then and after that always preferred science fiction role playing games. I had taught my kids some games in [...]

A game that seduced the players of our RPG club, with a simple and smooth rules system, that in my opinion needs to be used with miniatures and maps to experience the full potential of it's strategic gameplay. [...]

I got a chance to play this at a con. The game advertises itself as a "tactical RPG." Usually games that try to be "tactical" result in a complicated mass of rules and slow combat, but to my surprise the rules were quite streamlined [...]

I came across this game at a con and decided to give it a try. The alien races and setting are intriguing yet grounded. The game play is smooth and fast (though it took me a bit to get used to the d6 system, having been fully indoctrinated in the d20 [...]

After quite a bit of planing, calling, no shows, and organization, I was finally able to gather the gang and sit down for a much anticipated first game of solar echoes. I had read the rules. I had learned all of the races, archetypes, skills, scenarios [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
