Time Rover Press was started in 1995 with the publication of a reprint of Donald Featherstone’s classic book, Skirmish Wargaming, and a reprint of the 1883 US Army Manual for Army Cooks. That was followed by reprint of a Marine booklet covering World War 2 Soviet infantry weapons. All of these are still available as hardcover books. At the same time, Time Rover was building a large collection of copyright-free clip art from public domain sources and government publications, including historic and current military drawings, along with fantasy artwork, historic clothing, and maps.

Dale Ridder, the founder, has worked for numerous game companies, supplying them with technical assistance, reference material, artwork, and editing. He has worked for the US government in the areas of weapon effects of all types, and has served on the Marine Forensic Panel as the expert in the area of weapons, weapon effects, explosives, and explosions. He participated in the National Geographic Expedition which located President John F. Kennedy’s PT-109, and served as the on-board historian, general technical reference expert, assisted in developing the search box, and was responsible for identifying the wreck of the PT boat, along with another wreck that was located. Time Rover can provide you with all the help you may need to edit or produce accurate books, articles, wargames, and other products.

In branching out into online publishing, Time Rover looks to focus on providing high-quality compilations of military information from public domain government sources, copyright-free line art and drawings for publishers, historical reprints of military actions, and also consulting services to other publishers. We will also be looking at possible licensing arrangement to produce material for existing science-fiction and Victorian-period games, both historical and science-fiction. In the production cycle will also be a Victorian-era naval game, Great Guns Thunder, based on the original Jane’s Naval Game of 1898.
