“Man with all this construction and demolition I swear this city changes every day!”

CityScape consists of 35 unique modular 6 x 6 tiles that can be used to build a small city. CityScape uses connective tiles such as roadways, bridges, and railways to build the transportation network of the cities. These lead to destination tiles such as a bar, barbershop, basketball half court, bathroom, café, fountain, gas station, grocery, hot dog stand, Laundromat, motorcycle shop, office, park, squatter’s home, subway entrance, and town art statue. Some tiles are obstacle tiles such as barricades, potholes, and narrow alleyways created by dumpsters that can cause problems in a chase. Construct a transportation system and a town for today’s game. Then put away the tiles and you can make a brand new city for the next game!

This product is intended for use in modern or near future science fiction games.

This Product does not come with any ovelays so that the tiles can be rotated in any direction.

There are several ways to use the tiles. You can use them to create a small city before play for a wargaming scenario set in an urban environment or a chase or combat inside an urban setting in a role-playing game. Or you can stack the tiles with the logo face up and randomly draw them from a deck to build a town as the group explores it or randomly generate tiles for a board game that needs roads, buildings, and other urban terrain.

The Print on Demand module has 88 tiles (single-sided tiles with the DramaScape CityScape logo on the back). This allows you to create a play area of 5 x 4 feet with all the tiles deployed. The Print on Demand version is printed on 12-point card stock and has a UV coat that allows for dry erase markers to be used on the tiles and then wiped off. This surface also allows it to be taped together for stability and then the tape removed just as easily for storage without hurting the tiles.

Unlike our other products, this does not come with VTT files as its designed for the Printed Card options.

If you buy the actual tiles, does it come with 35 or 88?

88 as we duplicate a lot of the tiles so that you can make larger area with them.

In different to most other products from DramaScape the "CityScape Vol1" is stated as "Watermarked PDF". Well, I mostly use the maps with virtual tapletops. So, is this product available as PNG (or JPG) image files too?

No sorry the 6 x 6 tiles are not designed to be used with VTT. But I suppose that if enough people requested a VTT version on our Forum or Facebook page we would look at releasing one.

The artwork in this set is up to the high standards I have come to expect from DramaScape. However, the PDF file states, "DramaScape map products are designed to be compatible with both square and hex-based games and this map product includes both types of overlays and also a non-overlay version." Maybe I am missing something, but I do not see the overlays. There is one copy of each tile, and no layers to turn the overlays on or off. I read the above in the preview, and it was the main reason I got the set. Almost all of your other products have grid versions. Why not this one? Especially when you state that is does. The product information says this is an 88 page product. My PDF is only 41 pages. I would really like some clarification on this issue.

Our 6 x 6 tile sets dont have Overlays and it states 88 tiles as that is the page count of the Print on Demand product, that bit is printed right in the PDF "The Print on Demand module has 88 tiles (single-sided tiles with the DramaScape CityScape logo on the back)." The difference is tiles is because we duplicate some on the POD version so that there are enough to make a CityScape.
The Reason we dont add overlays in the 6 x 6 tiles set is that its allow the tiles to be rotated any way people want, this wouldn't be possible with the Hex version.
Thanks for pointing the error out to us about the Overlays, It the standard statement we make about our products, we will remove that from the PDF, we are sorry if this caused any confusion.

You could easily add overlays as layers in the PDF, and with layers, allow for rotated hexes as well as different sizes...
VTT images would be nice, please.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
