Far across the lone and level sands lies great temples built from limestone and sandstone - and though they lie in ruins today, they once rose far out of the desert with heights unmatched by any modern civilization.
Did I say limestone? Oh, well, it could be obsidian. And it might be snow instead of sand. There's a few interesting variants here.
