Nor Cal Mythos Entertainment (NCM) is a small gaming/literature company based out of the city of Salinas, California (although we do have a small satellite in Fort Wayne, Indiana) and the makers of the Tri-Forge gaming system and its setting, the Carbyne Jungle. While we have a few, our core value is the betterment of the world through good gaming and good stories. We believe that stories are the lifeblood of not just our society, but of civilization itself. A cheesy mentality perhaps, but we believe stories bind us together and allows us to explore and celebrate both our similarities and our differences with each other. It is our hope at NCM that our roleplaying gaming system, Tri-Forge, and our corresponding stories will create great, personal moments for players and allow for the free, self-expression that is the cornerstone of our business culture at NCM.
What is Carbyne Jungle?
NCM took every RPG we loved, tore them down to the bones, and looked at what makes tabletop RPGs so amazing. We started with a skeleton of what makes a great gaming experience, added some muscle, fashion sense, hardware, topped it off with a semi-unhinged personality, and threw the switch.
Set thousands of years into a distant future, Carbyne Jungle combines elements of Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Noir, and Horror, into a rich gaming experience. Built on the Tri-Forge Engine, Carbyne Jungle has three styles of gameplay, customizable for beginners through advanced players, so whoever is at the table can jump into the game.
The setting is both in-depth and flexible allowing a GM to dive right into the universe, forge their own world, or anywhere in between. With phenomenal battles, meaningful non-combat conflicts, and an incredibly flexible advancement system, Carbyne Jungle is the game you’ve been waiting for.
The Setting
Carbyne Jungle takes place in the distant future of a traditional fantasy setting. Aspects of Fantasy, Science Fiction, exist side by side in a universe built around adventure, intrigue, and exploration
Metropolis
The center of the reknown galaxy, Metropolis is a city built throughout the remnants of the original inhabited world. Completely urban, and dominated by competing corporations, Metropolis provides opportunities for urban campaigns designed around investigation, espionage, and rebellions.
The Frontiers
Escape the civilization and head out to the frontiers. Explore the distant reaches of the galaxy either for a corporation or on your own, seeking your own path and own adventure, where the only laws are the ones you carry with you.
Expansions
Carbyne Jungle introduces you to a new universe, and we plan on expanding it: New archetypes, new power sources, new races, and new locations to play. Our goal is to give you as many options as possible fill your universe.
Every time we release a prebuilt game, we plan on adding to our story. New species with diverse origins and characters will play a major role in each addition. New archetypes will also be made available and eventually entirely new power sources. While these will all be smaller additions, once there is content we will bind it all into a single volume for players and GMs who are not interested in the prebuilt games. So no matter what your preference, we will have a version ready for you. Later this year, we will be releasing our first book expansion: "Heroes, Liars, Thieves, and Fools."
Mission Decks are Now Available
Mission Decks are a multi-purpose tabletop gaming tool developed by Nor Cal Mythos entertainment. There are two initial decks: Khieron’s Keep developed using the D&D; 5e open gaming license, and Haedus 8B created for NCM’s own Carbyne Jungle.
Players adventure through the dungeon or base, facing horrific challenges, dealing with NPCs, and discovering the mysteries of the game. Each game is designed to last for one session, but also can be played repeatedly, delving deeper into the story, learning new secrets, or just playing for fun where the whole table can level and grow together.
Cooperative Play
Mission Decks work perfectly as a cooperative play game. On night’s when no one wants to DM/GM, or players couldn’t make it to the game, this is the perfect activity. Map and Conflict cards take players through randomly drawn dungeon, facing different encounters, and exploring storylines. Monster cards and loot cards keep the party progressing, allowing the players to grow together at the table. Parties encounter NPCs and work their way to the Boss Fight of the Dungeon.
The Haedus 8B decks are the first expansion to the Carbyne Jungle Universe and are now available on DriveThruRPG The first three Mission Decks are the Haedus 8B decks which tell the story of the dangerous research tanking place on on the moon of Haedus 8B, code named Hell's Gate. Each deck has three storylines and using all three decks, you can take your characters from Alpha to Omega tiers.
Both print and digital copies of decks come with an in-depth PDF guide along with printable 8.5 x 11 inch maps.
