Our story takes place in England in 1812, only one year into the Regency era. A young lady of good societal standing is introduced at a ball to three potential suitors: a navy captain, a clergyman, and an aristocrat, all with dark secrets that lead to even darker consequences.

Host and Hostility is a collection of three one-to-one scenarios for Call of Cthulhu 7th Edition by Chaosium, making use of the Regency Cthulhu sourcebook. The scenarios range from weird science to high-mythos. Each scenario is written to be run in a single 2-4 hour session.

Loom and Lucidity

A dashing but mysterious naval captain has taken Brighton by storm this Season. Where did they come from and what is the source of their fortune? And why did Lord Cosgrove drop dead as soon as he spoke against the gallant Captain? Intrigued by such an enigmatic person, the investigator accepts an invitation to a soirée in London with the highest of high society in attendance. There she will be have to battle to keep her wits about her as madness reigns.

Curate and Curability

The investigator is introduced to a young clergyman who is a widower, mourning the loss of his late wife. An invitation to his house in a secluded county village follows, but is there more to the draughty old vicarage than meets the eye? And what really happened to his wife?

Note and Notoriety

The investigator is invited to the ball of the season hosted by renowned aristocrat Sir Jasper d’Ulfrey. The lavish parties of Sir Jasper are known to all, and the guests are the envy of the ton. Little do they know that Sir Jasper has grown weary of his hedonistic existence. With the help of some of the more dubious books in his library he means to make this, his final grand ball, a night to remember...

Your scenario is fantastic! It's a shame that the language barrier prevents more people from enjoying it...
So if you don't mind, can I translate it into Korean? On the condition that you only provide translations to people who buy your scenario.
I'm sorry if my suggestion offended you.

Hi, thanks for getting in touch. Probably easiest to discuss this over email if that's ok? s.r.sellens [at] gmail [dot] com

Hello, I'm interested in buying this, but was wondering if you were planning on making a Foundry Module as well as a Roll20 one at some point?

Hi. So unfortunately Miskatonic Repository scenarios aren't currently licensed to be sold on Foundry, however the PDF comes with a link to jpeg/png assets (maps, tokens, handouts etc) which you could upload to foundry if you like.
If we are allowed to create for Foundry in the future I'll definitely look at doing so.
Hope this helps :)

How easy (or not) is it to run each of these with a group?

Hi,
So the first two scenarios are most definitely more suited to one player (although there are probably ways you could expand them).
The third scenario (Note and Notoriety) is easer to adapt, and I've included notes at the end of that chapter on how you might achieve this.
Hope this helps :)

I just purchased this and it looks wonderful. However, the links on Page 79 for the handouts and letter folding video do not work. The handouts link is case sensitive and has to be edited (took a bit to figure that out). The video link just leads to a YT site and says "This video isn't available anymore".

Otherwise, so far so good. Congratualtions on your publication!

Thanks for the feedback. I've updated the file to correct the links (you're right, the Small Caps formatting messed them up). I'll record and upload a video about how to fold the regency letter in the new year and update that.

Thank you for such a quick response! The handouts link works great, and for some reason, the letter folding video is back up now.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
