Age Past is a sandbox fantasy RPG that suits characters from primtive to low technology genres.  There are hundreds of options that can be taken multiple times for millions of combinations.  The system helps creates some of the most satisfyingly developed PC from any RPG.  All this integreates with a character drive system that provides motivation to both the player and character.

Anything in the world can be crafted from flying ships to magic armor.  Players have control to create their own beast followers, comrades, and followers.

Your character is special because you made her that way.  The system allows you to leverage your character's unique aspects and places them front and center.  How your character works and what you can do is unlike any other system.  You may choose to make a character that is great at a few specific tasks or a generalist.  Regardless, the archetype you create is completely unique and will perform the way you designed her.

Is this still a thing or has it died the way a lot of crowdfunding games do? if not when are the next books coming, I have the sand and woe already you put out (minus some artwork), just wondering what if anything is the next step with this. Also just as a teaser what are the other spheres like I believe one of them is more Technology focused (to what level, are we talking steampunk, or way more futuristic), also what are the other two spheres like? Also what other races are out there and what other monsters.

I was wondering how I go about purchasing the Sands and Woe companion to this? I try to purchase from the publishers website, but the cart system fails every time. I get a message that states, "Oops! It looks like nothing was found at this location, please check the address and try again!"

Will it be added to DTRPG? I have OCD, and have to own everything for every game system I own. I am honestly begging for a way to give you guys money.

Thank you very much.

Brandon,

Sorry for the delayed response. I didn't see it here. Sand and Woe has been written, but was part of a failed crowdfunding effort. I don not have full art for it yet. My plan is to re-release it with the rest of the Age past material, including the Sphere of Terres Book which provides the rest of the world's content. If you want the "late-beta" Sand and Woe book I can send you a copy. Please just email jeff@strangemachinegames.com and ask and I'll send you a link.

Thanks!
Jeff

Ohh btw, if you like "throwing money" at problems... I need art and editing. I am happy to take donations for exclusive rights to content in the games i make - chosen by you. It's an opportunity to put your mark on the system and RPG hobby in general. Really I want to do the best possible and that includes art.

Thanks,
Jeff

We appreciate honest and measured feedback, as we want to make the best games possible. If you've played the game we want to know about your experience.

Thanks! Jeff

I have a 110 page book written that needs art called Sand and Woe. It was a bundle with a failed KS and I have 65k words written for the Steampunk world called the Hokate Sphere which I was writing for the Spheres of Terres book.

I'd love to get all this stuff out, but without crowdfunding for the art, I have to put out books w/o art or color or both. Since the KS are having a hard time breaking $5k, I have placed these on the back burner to build up more of a resume so people will be more interested in backing. I happy to give you access to the copy, but I need thousands to make these properly. If you have thoughts or can help assemble a campaign I would be appreciative.

Author and Designer Jeff Mechlinski takes a bold new approach to Swords and Sorcery medieval fantasy in Ages past. After turning about 20 This reviewer learned of the world of rpgs outside of Dungeons and Dragons. Often I have encountered systems meant to cater to one specific setting or feeling. This is neither of those and encompases a wide range of settings. The age past system does one thing above all other things it does extremely well. Variety, is the core of this system building a classless character from the ground up with your own wants and desires strewn about it. I personally love my character from it. He is everything I wanted. Moving forward the alignment system is inventive and refreshing and the races are full of there own flare without being to unfamiliar. My primary issue with this rulebook however Is in fact the core mechanic of dice pooling, and the combat, while this reviewer understand the point of the system in that one can be far more narrative to combat, it often feels bogged down in a...See more

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
