Capture the Spirit of Arthurian Legend!

Relive the grandeur, romance and adventure of the greatest of all legends — the story of King Arthur. Assume the role of a knight starting his career in the time of Uther Pendragon, undertaking quests and perilous adventures for your lord, for your lady-love, for the Church, or for your own glory. Win great renown with your laudable deeds and feats of arms, perhaps even winning the right to carve your name into the Round Table itself as the story of Arthur and Camelot unfolds around you.

With its innovative rules, including the distinctive traits and passions system designed to help you in determining your character's behavior under any circumstances, King Arthur Pendragon provides a unique roleplaying experience laid out against the richest tapestry in Western literature.

This Edition 5.2 offers hundreds of corrections to Edition 5.1 which itself updated the redesigned and reorganized 5th Edition. This book also contains new material and rules changes for 5th Edition by Greg Stafford, the creator of the original game.

Does anyone have any review of how quality the premium hardcover is? Nervous about investing in such an expensive book if it doesn't hold up to the standard of a premium full color tome.

Very late to the party, but thanks for taking the time to post your review for KAP (and many other games, TBH).

I have heard great things about Pendragon but I have no previous experience with it. I would like to purchase it, but I want a product I can hold and not just a PDF to print. I have held off investing in it given that 5.2 is not available for POD (yet?). Should I continue to wait for the 5.2 POD to be released? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Sorry guys, my question could be very silly, but I would like to know what's the interesting differences between the 5TH edition and this new 5.2 edition. From what I can judge from the index in the preview, it's almost the same stuff. Okay, more orderly organized, okay more amazing art and coverings, but honestly what's new in it?

as in 5.1 too, in KAP 5.2 on p.23 "the coat of arms" there is the mistake: instead of "...de Galis family..." it must be "...de Ganis family...", even the shields on the 2nd page after title-page shows that the red stripes are worn by Bors de Ganis, not by Lamorak who had a silver lion arounded by silver crosses...

As much as I love my old print copy of Pendragon, I'd love a print/PDF bundle for 5.2. Any updates on when or if this will happen?

Is it possible for you guys to make a pdf version with the maps and heraldic crests removed to another file? Having the pages be different sizes makes the pdf much harder to use with features such a fit screen or width. I made my own version by printing it as a PDF with those pages missing and it really improves the document. Unfortunately, this also results in a loss of bookmarks (and I'm guessing hyperlinks). I'd love to have the best of both worlds. Thanks for your consideration.

Hey, FYI, Not with this particular document, but with others, I have done what you're suggesting, and depending on the tool you use and how the PDF was set up initially, you can totally remove odd sized pages to get the fit width/screen working without affecting bookmarks or hyperlinks. Generally if the PDF is using good pagination with sections (where the cover and endpages and introductions are using names like A, B, C, or i, ii, iii or if the PDF itself was originally created to include the cover page as page 1 and so on, with modern documents) you'll be able to remove those pages without affecting bookmarks and hyperlinks. It'll also work if you were to go in and renumber those pages yourself using something like Acrobat or PDF Element. Logical pages versus displayed pages can be a pain sometimes, but what you're suggesting is totally possible.

I am in no way affiliated with the publisher, but I was recently in contact with them via email inquiring about a print version of the book and was informed that the print version of 5.2 was originally conceived as an add-on for backers of the Paladin kickstarter. Therefore, they will be delivering copies to those backers first before making them available to the rest of us. According to the Paladin kickstarter page, delivery won't be until August 2018 which means we likely won't see a print or POD version until that time. Also, for those who are unaware, Stewart Wieck of Nocturnal Media passed away unexpectedly this past June, so that may or may not affect delivery times and whatnot. Please be patient and understanding. For more information, I would recommend Nocturnal Media's forums where Greg Stafford himself appears to be quite active.

There is an offset printed edition that is shipping from press. We may offer a POD eventually too, but would like to sell copies from the print run.

This new Edition is so much more enjoyable to read. Great improvement on the page design. Arts looks amazing. The only thing missing is a consolidation of the tables at the end or even better a GMscreen instead on the way maybe. Add a 100 glory to your total Nocturnal.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
