Sagas & Six-Guns is a Savage Worlds Adventure Edition setting and rulebook about a mythical and uninhabited frontier settled by Scandinavian cultures. A mash-up of the Old West and the Old Norse, Sagas & Six-Guns is what happens when Beowulf takes on Grendel with a pair of six-shooters and his trusty axe.

The setting and rule-book is written by Robert Buckey, who has teamed up with GALLANT KNIGHT GAMES. The game utilizes the Savage World: Adventure Edition ruleset.

You do need the Savage World: Adventure Edition rulebook to play this game.

We aim to give you the tools you need to tell fantastic stories of shootists wielding pistols while shouting oaths to the Aesir in Valhalla.  Your heroes will battle everything from cattle rustlers and train robbers, to trolls and maybe even a dragon.  You can be anything from a mundane pistolero or gunmaiden, to a runecasting seer, to a Valkyrie cut off from Asgard.

Sagas and Six Guns makes use of the highly adaptable Savage Worlds rules to play out the adventures of your heroes in Western Midgard.  It also introduces some exciting setting specific rules to enhance the experience, to represent both the gritty Western and Viking tropes.  Pistol dueling, or Holmgang, will be represented, allowing your characters to face down other steely eyed gunslingers.

In keeping with the Norse traditions of Saga telling, and to represent the renown your character will accrue over the course of their adventures, rules are included to represent the spread of your personal Saga, and the benefits that affords you.

Lastly, social rules are included for Ring Giving, to represent your characters gathering a large posse of warriors to their cause.

It says that you can name your own price and I don't have any money. But I can't figure out how to download the product. It keeps asking me for a credit card. You guys should make this easier. You say that you can name your own price you're low on funds but then make it impossible to actually do it. Maybe I'm just not very computer-oriented because I'm not really. But I don't have a credit card so I can't fill out that part. When I get some money I'll buy some games. I like to look at them before I buy them anyway. But anyway

Hi Darren!

Unfortunately, we can't alter how DriveThruRPG's checkout process works. If you are changing the "14.99" field to "0.00" and then adding to cart, it shouldn't ask you for a credit card. We just tested it ourselves and it worked when we did that.

If it still asks for a card, you will have to reach out to DriveThruRPG.

We're sorry for the difficulty, and wish we could help address it for you in a more efficient manner. Luckily, DTRPG customer support is great, and they'll sort you out!

Hello Robert,

Moving this to a top level comment in hopes of receiving *some* sort of notification to replies.

Thank you very much for all the feedback.

* Torvald Boost (p39), I assume this should be 1PP due to restriction? I’m not sure what restriction you’re referring to.
* Godi Powers (p59), regarding Boost Trait and Light, would this be compulsory Limitation, or does it still cost full? I’m not sure what you mean.

I used the wrong language. Limitations (SWÆ p150) reduce PP cost and/or give +1 to AB roll by reducing Range or Aspect. In this case, Boost/Lower>Boost and Light/Darkness>Light would halve the available effects, dropping the cost by 1PP (and if one opted to make Boost on touch or self, it would be at +1 to the roll).
My question is whether this would be a compulsory use of this optional rule, or a fluff restriction that may in some way balance the mechanics of free spells.

We have just finished our 4th session. We mostly used the pre-gens and short included adventures as well as a Deadlands one-sheet. It has been the great the mash-up works with plenty of jokey crossovers. As GM I really like that there is no native people as most such encounters are a little obvious following very well worn tropes.

Maybe an expansion to include Skraelings (what's a Western setting without some interaction with the local natives)? Some Chimera based Wild West Critters?

Thanks for the response.

Just got the hardcover and am enjoying the quirky setting. Glad you Savage World. Well done. Any plans for expansions, such as maps of the kingdoms? Maybe some more beasties and Wild West tech?

Hey Jon, author here. We are working on more material setting-wise, including a map and expanded info on the kingdoms and other political entities. There may very well be some more beasties and whatnot in there as well. Glad you're enjoying it!

Hello Robert,

Is there any way we can reach out for clarifications? There are a handful of things I wasn't really sure about reading through the document.

Overall, great fun. I'm having a little trouble balancing melee characters with the party of pregens, but they're still really enjoying both blasting away things from the distance and almost getting murderized up close.

I haven't had a FB in about a decade, so I suppose here works. Gosh, this might end up a list; sorry about that.

* Regarding Beast Heritage (p12), are you always required to use maximum Actions when raging, or is that only crit-fail the Smarts roll?
* for Hrafn (p13), "(weapons that take 1 turn to reload become free actions)" - is that supposed to be 1 Action becomes free? Additionally, with the upgrade to SWAdE, would become Vulnerable instead of -2 Parry?
* (Improved) Holmganger (p13-14), Is the +1 to Shooting in addition to the +1 for having it (where listing all edges that provide a +1 to the final contested Shooting roll)?
* (Improved) Pistol Whip (p15), are we assuming that using a gun as a bludgeon would still be considered an improvised weapon?
* Father Kjetl (p27), what rank is Gambling?
* Father Kjetl (p27), should he have three powers as a Godi?
* Torvald Boost (p39), I assume this should be 1PP due to restriction?
* Torvald Summon Ally...See more

Hi Josh, hope this helps. All the best.

* Regarding Beast Heritage (p12), are you always required to use maximum Actions when raging, or is that only crit-fail the Smarts roll? Only if they critically fail.
* for Hrafn (p13), "(weapons that take 1 turn to reload become free actions)" - is that supposed to be 1 Action becomes free? Additionally, with the upgrade to SWAdE, would become Vulnerable instead of -2 Parry? 1 Action becomes free, and it is still -2 to Parry.
* (Improved) Holmganger (p13-14), Is the +1 to Shooting in addition to the +1 for having it (where listing all edges that provide a +1 to the final contested Shooting roll)? No, it doesn’t stack, the purpose of the Edge is to gain the relevant bonuses.
* (Improved) Pistol Whip (p15), are we assuming that using a gun as a bludgeon would still be considered an improvised weapon? Yes, it still follows the rules of improvised weapons.
* Father Kjetl (p27), what rank is Gambling? 0, that is a typo....See more

About Improved Holmganger - Normally any "Improved" edge bonus replaces the bonus in the base edge (similar to how it is written in Improved Pistol Whip), but for this one there's also the word "additional" in the edge description.
Does that mean it is meant to stack with its base edge bonus?

Hi Nir M, author here. I see where you're coming from, and apologize that wasn't clear. The bonus for Improved Holmganger should replace the bonus for the basic version of the Edge. Hope that clears it up, and thanks for the support!

A fun take on a different kind of ‘weird west’ game.
My group is having a blast playing with all the Viking tropes within a moderately familiar western setting.

My only gripe with this setting book is it’s lack of a map. It describes the world well, just doesn’t have a map to reference.

Gallant Knight Games has created a great game that fits right next to The Sixth Gun and Deadlands on your Weird West shelf; fits very well into the Savage Worlds mindset, and takes good advantage of the new SWADE rules. The Plot Point Campaign is flexible, and quite useful in both fantasy and Western games. If I have a complaint, it's that the primer of worlds isn't as fleshed out as I would like. It's not the producer's fault, but with the many SW settings, I've become accustomed to the single setting book being the whole shebang....so maybe some onesheets or expansions in the future?

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
