Hi!
I believe there’s a typo in Example two, challenge 1 and 2, the ace of spades should rather be an ace of diamonds, shouldn’t it?

Hi Obed, thanks for your attention to the game. In this example I was using the Spade as stealth technology. When Diamonds are used as vehicles, there will be some overlap with combat abilities (usually Clubs), and movement / stealth abilities (usually Spades). Thanks for pointing out this area of confusion. I will try to make that more clear in the next version of the game.

This ticks all the boxes for a solo gamer like me. Simple. Story based. Playing card resolution is a major plus. Ultra hack-able. My only gripe is that the rules leave a lot of interpretation. It took me three tries to play the game right, but even failing at it was fun. I'll be chipping in a few bucks and recommending this to reddit.

Ian, Thank you so much! I will be working on a new version that will hopefully be more clear.

Hello!

Interesting game you have there. One quick question, though. What's the value of an ace? I assume the face cards have the standard values (Jack = 11, Queen = 12, King = 13).

Hi Ranjith! Good question. In the examples, I treat an Ace as 1 and all Face Cards as 10, but nowhere in the rules do I make those values explicit. That was a major oversight! That should probably be clarified in the next next version. Thanks for asking.

Thanks for the answer.

Another quick one: Example 2 seems to imply that the character's suit also works if the challenge is the character's suit. So, if you draw the character's suit for the challenge, you can discard any card to succeed, right?

And what do I do if I draw a joker during setup?

Yours,
Deathworks

Hi Ranjith,
1) If the Challenge is the character's suit, then you can discard any card _of that suit_ to succeed.

2) If you draw a Joker during set-up, describe this asset or drawback. Is it luck, fate, a powerful artifact, a character or agency? An enemy following you, or a guardian angel watching over you? Then see the text boxes on pages 3 and 4 for how to use the Joker in play. The next version will definitely need some more detail on Jokers.

Thanks again for the exellent questions!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
