What's an Omnibus?

An Omnibus is a massive single volume that compiles multiple other pieces of work into a single book.  The Infinite Adventures Omnibus collects Volumes 1 through 6 of the Infinite Adventures: Western Realm books.

Purchasing this Omnibus gives you each of the 6 individual Volumes, plus the Omnibus book, which is available as a hardcover as well, PLUS the Common Reference Booklet, a 122-page separate reference for the introductory general rules for all POIs, Events, Quirks, NPC/Creature Modifiers, and dozens of pages of Utility Tables for use in your adventures.

Hardcover Notice:

Anyone who owns the Omnibus in digital form will receive a discount once the complete book is available in hardcover.  You'll be able to order the massive, 800+ page hardcover at cost, reflecting your existing investment in the product.  Be sure to opt in to DTRPG notification emails so you receive a heads-up once it's ready!

Summary

The Infinite Adventures Omnibus is a massive, 800+ page tome collecting the first six Infinite Adventures volumes into a single book.  It describes over 150 points of interest (POI).  Each one is designed to be interesting enough for at least an entire gaming session, if not an entire multi-session arc, or even an entire campaign.  Every one of these POIs could be its own book :)

Each POI is designed to be immediately usable in any fantasy TTRPG, in any campaign setting, with zero to little preparation.

The entire book has been designed from the ground up to support and enable solo adventuring.

Also contains universally-usable mechanics, guidelines, tables, and general resources for all points of interest in a fantasy TTRPG campaign.

Zero Prep, System-Agnostic

Designed to be immediately usable in any fantasy TTRPG, all Infinite Adventures books require zero prep time.

What is This Thing?

FlexTale Infinite Adventures is a concept that applies the Infinium Game Studio approach to points of interest on a fantasy TTRPG map.  Detailed descriptions, endless permutations of things to keep things fresh, easy-to-use tables and resources, and plenty of ideas and inspiration.

This book is the first in a series describing the various Points of Interest (POI) in the Western Realm of Aquilae.  Though it was created with this setting in mind, everything in this book was designed to be system- and setting-agnostic.

Inside, you'll find:

  • Discovery, including read-aloud text, "Why You Might Come Here", "So You Find Yourself Here", Hooks, and more.
  • Activities, including Adventure Snippets, Quests, Secrets, Threats, and more.
  • Location information, including a heatmap / location guide for the POI's presence in the Realm of Aquilae.
  • Rumors & Lore table with true, partially true, and false stories about the POI.
  • Events and Quirks, describing unique phenomena that might occur as you explore.

More interesting for players.  Easier to run for D/GMs.  Full, out of the box support for solo players.

And above all: NOT BORING!

Contents

Inside, you'll find:

  • 668 tables, 129 FlexTables (each one four tables in one), and 150 full-color maps
  • Dozens of Utility Tables: quickly and dynamically generate entire dungeon maps, traps, poisons, diseases, curses, treasure, and spells.
  • "Jump Right In" introduciton describing exactly how to use this book based on your needs as a G/DM
  • Dedicated discussion on how to use this book as a solo adventurer
  • Creature Modifiers to quickly make even the most ho-hum, boring common monster more interesting and unique
  • Much, much more!

Points of Interest

Each of the following gets at least four full dedicated pages of description, tools, variability, and resources.  With the tables provided, any one of these POI represents tens of thousands of possible combinations of use in your game!

Howdy,
I didn't see this comment yet.

Tables 1 and 2 (random POI) in the Darkhalls book is incorrectly a copy of Table 1 from Volume 1. Table 2 in Volume 2 is a copy of Table 2 in Volume 1. Table 2 in Volumes 4, 5, and 6 are copies of Table 2 in Volume 3.

Hi. Maybe I am looking over it, but I can't find tables listing the poi of the omnibus per poi type. I wanted to do a hexcrawl rolling first on the poi type per terrain table from the hexcrawl toolkit and then roll on a table in the omnibus with all poi of that type. Am I missing something?

If I understand you correctly, I believe these tables are in the Hexcrawl Toolkit, starting on page 251. There's separate tables for Repeating, Unique, Villainous, and all of them together in a single list as well. Hope that helps!

That is indeed what I am looking for but it only mentions adventure, unique and villain POI.

Say I roll a religious POI, is there a table to roll for which one from the omnibus (eg Abbey, asylum, cathedral of the gods, devistiture cannon, etc)?

Between the Western Realms Gazetteer and this product, is there any overlap of information between the two? I am a DM preparing for a new campaign in a multi-verse of sorts. Curious as to whether the Western Realms Atlas and Gazetteer is what i should purchase, or this FlexTale IA Omnibus is what I should be obtaining if I only have the money to purchase one right now. Thank you in advance.

Hi Jason P--Ironically, I'm a Jason P :)

It depends on what you're looking for, really. Western Realms Gazetteer is all about the campaign world--the nations, the leaders, the cities, the maps, the history, and so on, all about the Realm of Aquilae, the IGS campaign setting. If you're looking to have part of your multi-versal campaign take place there, or start there, then it's a fantastic resource.

Infinite Adventures was originally intended to be in that book, but couldn't possibly fit. WRG is 840 pages--the absolute maximum that DTRPG allows for printed hardcovers. Infinite Adventures contains descriptions of the points of interest. If you're looking to populate your world--any world--with mini-adventures or encounters, then Infinite Adventures is what you're looking for; that's exactly what it was designed to help with.

If you're looking to have points of interest fully fleshed out in a campaign world ready to use, then the combination of the two is essential....See more

Hi, in the past you've sent complimentary copies of the individual titles. Will you do so again? I don't see anything for volumes 3 and 6. We have the individual files via this title, but I do like being able to square up my OBS library so it shows me at a glance if I have the content or not.

Thank you! Both for doing so (if you choose to) and more, for creating this massive work in the first place.

Hiya... thanks for reaching out! Everyone who has the Omnibus should also have each of the individual Volumes as well.

As the saying goes, if one person is asking a question, chances are good that many others share the same question... so I just sent out an email to everyone who owns the Omnibus with explicit links to grab each of the individual Volumes.

If anyone runs into problems doing that via the links, or if you've purchased the Omnibus but have not received the mentioned list of links, please reach out to me at infiniumGameStudios [at] gmail [dot] com and include your DTRPG Omnibus order number.

This will be even more important for those who are interested in ordering softcovers of any of the individual Volumes... that option is coming in March hopefully.

I appreciate everyone's patience with all of the chaos... this, like most of the things I write, turned out to be quite a bit bigger than anticipated, which is a bit of a hassle for completionists...See more

I see that, thank you! I didn't ask for the Common Reference Booklet (it was in my wishlist) but I see you've included that also.

As you might understand, I too am a completionist (and have invested a great deal of time in tuning calibre to manage my library), so having the full complement as discrete titles helps me -- both organizationally, and intellectually/emotionally :)

(For my own titles, I usually go the other way: the omnibus get bundled with the individual titles, for free... if you've invested in the series as I released them, you get the omnibus free. I haven't tried releasing something as a 'subscription' model such as this omnibus, because I am not confident in my delivering regularly on schedule...)

I see the Common Reference Booklet link is the print version at a price of $12.50. Was that deliberate? No problem if it is, the content is after all in the other PDFs so this is a price break on the print copy... but I suspect it might not have been your intent.

I get what you're saying--the way I released these in particular, though, folks had the option to buy the Omnibus right from the release of Volume 2. Almost nobody bought the individual Volumes from 2-6 for that reason--the Omnibus was just an obscenely good value compared to the individual V's.

To clarify, the Omnibus isn't intended as a "subscription", really--it's just a way of releasing the content in pieces so nobody would have to wait a full 6 months to get at it. Originally, in fact, this content was envisioned to simply be one of the sections in the Western Realm Gazetteer... and that book itself finished at 840 pages, so ain't no way this stuff was fitting in there. :)

Were you aware of that issue when you initially created the Omnibus? While I don't mind paying the extra, it is somewhat irritating to discover that what was marketed as a subscription to the complete set of Infinite Adventures will eventually in fact only be a subscription to about 1/3 of them.

To clarify, the Omnibus was not and is not intended as a "subscription", really--it's just a way of releasing the content in pieces so nobody would have to wait a full 6 months to get at it. From the beginning, it stated that it covers volumes 1-6, and does. Sorry for any misunderstanding.

All in all, between Omnibus 1 and 2, it will almost certainly be over 1,600 pages of content for about $40... unparalleled in my experience. Consider, too, that I've seen countless examples of indie "point of interest" style mini-PDFs regularly go for $1-$3 apiece... there's an argument that this first Omnibus alone has over $150 of value.

Of course, your assessment of value is your own, and you're free to disagree. Hope you enjoy whatever pieces you end up buying and/or using!

Hi John--Not a silly question at all. "Yes, but it doesn't matter as much as you may be worried about" is the short answer.

Most of the value here is system-agnostic ideas, tables, and descriptions.

The intro and utility tables do provide system-specific rules language for the "supported" systems: 5E, Pathfinder first edition, Pathfinder Second Edition, OSR, and DCC.

You can get a sense of this approach in this screenshot:
https://www.drivethrurpg.com/images/9638/_product_images/401556/IA_POI_Listing_Preview_02.png

You can also take a look at the previews in the individual Volume listings to get a better sense of the detail involved, or download the free Infinite Adventures Abbey for a single complete POI. (I'll admit the Abbey is not the best one, but it was alphabetically first in the list, so.)

It's done! All six volumes are now available for download.

In addition, the single-book, complete Omnibus PDF is available for download. Weighing in at 815 pages just for POI content, it was literally too big to fit into a single book (max is 840).

So I spawned off the Events, Quirks, general POI rules, creature modifiers, and utility tables sections that are common to all of the IA volumes into a separate PDF: the Common Reference Booklet. This PDF is included FREE in the Omnibus listing and is available to download now.

Finally, I've received many requests from folks to have the Common Reference Booklet content available as a separate hardcopy. I will be setting that listing up soon for those interested. Anyone who owns the Omnibus, or ANY of the individual Volumes, will receive a FREE PDF copy of that listing, and a discount link via email to order the softcover CRB at reduced price given that you already own the contents. Stay tuned for all of that :)

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
