Pregen Characters: Dwarf Cleric (5e)

Pregen Characters: Dwarf Cleric (5e) I am a DM, and one of the things I feel a DM needs to be prepared with is pregen characters incase the worst happens, a character bites the big one and is no more. I tell my players to have back up characters but in the event they do not, or a new player walks in and has not made a character they have the option to pick one of these now. I may never use these but I think they are still essential just in case. Thank you

Tome of Beasts for 5th Edition This is exceptional... For a PDF version, the artwork does not suffer, and of course the creatures are great. I use Roll20 and I am able to build my own bestiary in that program by simply copying and pasting, which my players are not happy about because none of them HAVE this book, so no one knows what I am throwing that them. Glass Gator? HA! You don't know. I look forward to using this with glee. Great price great content. Thank you to the creators and Thanks to Dungeon Master's guild.

Insta-NPCs #9: Cults and Cultists I needed some ideas on how to create a cult in a GURPS Supers! campaign and I found Insta-NPCs #9: Cults and Cultists useful. I didn't need to roll on the tables, since the descriptions in the results provided what I needed. I can see this being handy in the future when I'm stuck on ideas.

The Keys to the Kingdom I highly recommend this D&D style sketch book, and not just because of the art. Last night I was immersed in this product. It's a damn bargain at 12.00 for all the original maps alone. There is a two page world map included that looks awesome opened up side by side on my large monitor, total backdrop for a game session if you use this in a campagn. Included also is the smartest, most concise RPG setting with a lot of original art with coninuity. * 1 page character creation for a total newbie(or experienced player who likes to have fun) * 1 page spell lists * 2 page world map * illustrations as personalities and NPCs * 10 separate adventures each with maps and plot suggestions * several arch-enemy illustrations with backstory. If Chris Walton expands on this with a subsequent release it'll be extra cool to have been in on it at the start. Id love to see any fans of this report adventure play on a community or private fan page. Throw your money at this. ...

Spirit of 77 Core Rulebook

Spirit of 77 Core Rulebook This game gave me genuine joy to read, and after some preparation, I gave it a spin in my game group. It was a huge hit. The mechanics worked well--fast, specific and satisfying. The improvisational nature of the game and the mechanics that make the players not the DJ, responsible for successes and failures, as well as lists of specific possible choices and outcomes, are particularly fun. The genre may take a little training for some groups, and setting the right tone and balance for the campaign are essential, but once you overcome those hurdles and start cranking the 70s hits, the setting and atmosphere are perfect, allowing the players to be goofy and action oriented at the same time without too much or too little of either. I cannot recommend this game enough....

Trigger Happy

Trigger Happy I kickstarted this 5 years ago, and I still haven't played it, whilst having run about 80% of my purchased gaming library, at least for a one-shot. I think the problem that this game has is that it's simultaneously trying to be a quick, pulpy, boom boom game whilst wanting the game to facilitate that. It's too complex for me to feel I can pick it up and start shooting, because I have to help my players keep track of a whole host of mechanics (Limit, their health and luck manipulation; Ins, the things that push them forwards; Outs, things that keep them out of trouble) whilst I fundamentally bought it because I wanted to see something along the lines of the streamlined Fate games, or simple and pushy as Kill Puppies. The showrunner's notes at the end are helpful, but I still don't feel prepared to take the game on. I reckon a sample "adventure" would be enough to round the game out to runnable, especially if it held your hands through the rules. All that said, I'd rate this gam...

Atlas of the Dragonlance World (1e) Those Cross-Pages map don't connect with each other seamlessly. How do I present this to my players? My player would challenge me that my copy comes from some pirate scan, instead of WotC/TSR, the original publisher.

Black Pudding #4 Now in its fourth issue, J.V. West’s Black Pudding is one of the most entertaining OSR ‘zines going. Each issue offers 28 pages of 70’s-style, DIY dungeon-crawling craziness, prizing imagination over logic and fun over complexity. And while every Black Pudding feature may not fit into every OSR campaign, West’s rapid-fire writing, exaggerated illustration, expressive hand-lettering (yes, West letters most of the content by hand!) and absolutely unfettered creativity makes every page a hoot to read for anyone who appreciates D&D the way they played it in Lake Geneva. DDEX3-05 Bane of the Tradeways (5e) The adventure is a great concept, with lots of branching options and plenty of interesting plot opportunities. It's a great module to be in, and mostly straightforward to run. That said, the module is kind of a mess. Inconsistent formatting with regards to when it tells you how to modify encounters makes doing so a bit of a challenge. Finding a particular element can also be difficult. I did a lot of rereading because I was sure I missed something important, only to have to read half the module to find it. Additionally, there are some very punishing elements to portions of the adventure that can create issues. In the chase, a failed attempt to leap from one vehicle or mount to another effectively removes a character from the encounter as a whole. Fortunately, when I ran it, the chase was brought to a stop only two rounds later, or one player would have missed the whole encounter. Additionally, the important plot device from one of the encounters is very easy to miss, which can en...

Dungeon Crawl Classics #76.5: Well of the Worm
por Megan R. [Featured Reviewer]
Publisher: Goodman Games
Fecha en que fue añadido: 05/18/18 08:34:30
Dungeon Crawl Classics #76.5: Well of the Worm This adventure is set on the Plains of Barrowdown, an unfortunate patch of land that local lordlings use when their petty squabbles reach the level of open warfare - something that does nothing for those whose living depends on growing crops on the plains, who have had to survive on looting the dead when their crops have been trampled beyond salvation. Now a plague of blood-sucking worms has added to their woes, and there's a selection of adventure hooks provided to get the party involved. The adventure background explains where the worms came from, who or what is behind them, and where the adventure will start: an old abandoned well in the middle of farmland ruined by incessant warfare. It all begins with the party standing in the fields around the well, a bleak location that is described atmospherically. Below the well is a cavern complex, a claustrophic tangle of tunnels in which the party should feel threatened by the very environment around them, something the Judge is advis...

Exalted 3rd Edition

Exalted 3rd Edition I full expected to not enjoy Exalted. I'm mostly a fan of simpler systems, because I'm quite interested in quickly telling interesting stories, and only leaning on the mechanics when it's interesting to fail; I'm not one to enjoy a long slew of fights in most systems, and I thought I was just going to see some anime conflict. But a friend was running, so I got the book. This book blew me away. I got interested in the setting almost immediately, and the system spoke volumes to me. Although it has a **lot**of content in it, the game leans on those mechanics to make thing interesting. Even its combat system is, relatively speaking, a breath of fresh air which does a better job of simulating a bustling fight than it does a tactical battlemap. It made me think of Ip Man. In this book, you get the rules for playing the game, and for making Solars, the most powerful type of Exalt, and the system's flagship splat. It has a host of Martial Arts, some cool Artefacts, and it introduces the ...

Paranoia Red Clearance Edition

Paranoia Red Clearance Edition Ran this game after kickstarting it. It came with a bunch of nice stuff, and it totally had a great way of introducing the GM and the Players to the world. I've now run one of the sample missions three times (the others didn't speak to me in the same way, they're too long and held my hands in ways I didn't get to go) with 3 different groups, including at a Con. The mission I ran involved misdirection and a Black corridor that wasn't. After the first time, I mostly ditched half of the mechanics, mostly the pretty cards, because I figured they were too complicated for a one-shot. By the end, I found I was using the "Number One Troubleshooter" card, and the weapons card (it wasn't a "combat" scenario) and flying through most of the rest of the game. I had a blast running it, but I reckon the core of that was the setting, which is available in multiple other locations. The other friends I have who kickstarted it have sold theirs on, in fact, because they disliked the mechanics eno...
