A Simple Job - Adventure 1 What Lies Beyond Reason - 5th Edition An Endzeitgeist.com review The first installment of the "What Lies Beyond Reason AP" (if you don't count the optional prologue) clocks in at 61 pages, 1 page front cover, 1 page editorial, 1 page KS-thanks, 1 page ToC, 1 page SRD, 1 page back cover, leaving us with 55 pages of content, so let's take a look! This has been moved up in my review-queue due to me receiving a print copy in exchange for a fair and unbiased review. All right, while intended for 2nd level, it should be noted that scaling information for level 3 are included; similarly, if you dislike magical airships/basic steamtech, the module does mention how to deal with that. (It should be noted that more detailed theme-tweaking advice can be found in the impressive Campaign Guide). The pdf comes with pregens. All right, this being an adventure-review, the following contains SPOILERS. Potential players will want to jump to the conclusion. ... .. . All right, so this module is...structurally ano...

5E Mini-Dungeon #024: The Lapis Maiden of Serena Hortum

5E Mini-Dungeon #024: The Lapis Maiden of Serena Hortum An Endzeitgeist.com review This pdf clocks in at 2 pages and is a mini-dungeon. This means we get 2 pages content, including a solid map and all item/monster-stats hyperlinked and thus, absent from the pdf, with only deviations from the statblocks being noted for the GM. Unlike most 5E Mini-Dungeons, this one does not come with VTT-maps or player-friendly iterations, which is a bit of a bummer. Since this product line's goal is providing short diversions, side-quest dungeons etc., I will not expect mind-shattering revelations, massive plots or particularly smart or detailed depictions, instead tackling the line for what it is. Got that? Great! This being an adventure-review, the following contains SPOILERS. Potential players may wish to jump to the conclusion. ... .. . Still here? All right! The desert village of Serena Hortum is the backdrop of this module, with a local named Nadia looking for her missing sister - a beauty named Alucia. The trail leads...

HS3 Incursion of the Chain Devils

HS3 Incursion of the Chain Devils Three nights ago, strange lights and screams were heard from the local temple of Ishtar. Grotesque humanoids, wearing tattered clothes and wrapped with chains, emerged from the very walls, causing murder and mayhem within Can the PCs save the temple of Ishtar from the incursion of the chain devils? I'm always on the look out for another Sword & Sorcery old school style title, so I began to look around Drivethrurpg. Generally this is a dangerous thing to do but there are few 'pay what you' want titles that caught my eye. Incursion of the Chained Devils is one of those weird titles that you don't usually come across but this time I listened to the little voice that said, 'Grab it'. This is a weird & interesting little beast of an adventure that hearkens back to something I would have snatched up as a twenty year old dungeon master. "H3 Incursion of the Chain Devils is a module for 4-8 characters levels 5th to 7th using the first edition advanced rules" This is an expansive & sprawlin...

DDAL06-02 The Redemption of Kelvan (5e) ((spoilers below)) As puzzles go, this adventure has them and they're decent. The thinking on some of them are a little out of the box for some groups, so be prepared to either let them die, or push them forward. It's great that it's tied into the Book adventure, but that unfortunately makes it a lame stand alone adventure. The group I ran it for had no idea they were going to be going into one of the most famous D&D modules following this, so that was quite fun as well.

Crimson Exodus 2nd Edition

Crimson Exodus 2nd Edition Crimson Exodus and the Fantasy Dice System is quite simply; exactly what I have been looking for to take my RPG gaming to the next level. I have been playing Fantasy RPGs for over 30 years, and I have played a tremendous number of different systems. Of them all, the only one that really takes me into the story with just the right amount of crunch is Fantasy Dice. For the last 15 years I have been running an Epic Fantasy Campaign using the Rolemaster system, and while I loved the variety and detail, I came to loathe the plethora of books and tables that the system requires. But I could not find a system to switch to that gave me what I needed. Until I found Fantasy Dice. With one very simple mechanic, any skill can be chosen and used by any player simply, quickly, and easily. But what if you want to use two skills in conjunction, say Acrobatics and your spear. Claus Bornich has created a simple system for doing that as well. And it won't require you to look up a bunch of stuff in a rule...

DDAL05-12 Bad Business in Parnast (5e) Pretty decent adventure, but a few parts seem to be set up quite strange from a DM perspective if the players choose to split up at all and try doing multiple things at once, E.G. someone stay with Chandra at all times.

DDAL4-01 Suits of the Mists (5e) Fun couple of adventures. These are really good for if you have a short amount of time and would like to do 1 or 2 parts. Mechanically very simple and not challenging for the players, but they do a good job of introducing the odd themes of Barovia!

Swordsmen & Skeletons

Swordsmen & Skeletons This boils each aspect of play down to either an elevator-pitch sized one liner, or elides it. What sets this apart from similar products in the super-simple end of the design spectrum is that this one's legibility is crippled by layout. These three factors compound each other: 1. the background art that is behind _every_ part of the text swamps the contrast of the text. 2. every "chapter" is one long line, wrapped a dozen times in a full-justified block. 3. massive inch-plus margins is eating space that could have been spent on desparately needed text structuring, and looks bad with the background art to boot. Once you grind past those to the content, you find a bunch of reasonably standard dnd-isms. (As the author mentioned, this is for an already-versed audience.) Instead of these elements being short but building on each other to create an emergent game with some novelty, this looks like what you'd get if you sat a table of gamers together and told them they had 30 minute...
