Champions New Millennium (4th edition)

Champions New Millennium (4th edition) First off this isn't Fourth Edition it is Fuzion, which is what I wanted except that they gutted the rules section which is what I wanted. It removed the lifepath options that I found enjoyable as well as the Mekton plug in for building vehicles. I have loved Champions since around third edition and have most of the fourth, fifth and sixth edition books however, and this just could be me, I for the most part have not liked the vehicle rules. So I was extremely disappointed when I was going to use this to work on an anime campaign with mecha and saw how they reworked the entire rules section and for me not in a positive way....

Coaling Stations

Coaling Stations Coaling Stations finds a good balance between a fast play rule set while maintaining some feel for the pre-dred period. What I like about Coaling Stations most is the card-driven command mechanism. Each squadron is allocated a aspirational set of orders (move, turn, fire weapons, make smoke etc.) using cards (the basic information is provided, but you have to make your own) each turn and the number of orders that can be enacted is determined by a roll againts the squadron 'command rating'. This builds in a nice degree of uncertainty into the game that makes solo play very interesting. To me the collision/ramming rules are a little too extreme - touching the base of another ship means automatic collision - so I tend to use a successful roll against your command rating to 'save' against collision occuring (on 2d6). If you fail, collision occurs. The rules could do with a revision as there are some holes that require the player to study the examples of play to interpret them, but if...

Realms of Terrinoth

Realms of Terrinoth A truly beautiful book for RPG fantasy settings, even if you don't do the games or plan on roleplaying in their settings (Descent, Genesys, Runewars, other Terrinoth/ fantasy games) this is a lovely read if you enjoy fantasy and fantastical worlds- a great book to own even for non-gamers. And if you do do the games it goes perfectly with them. Some lovely artwork throughout, including from the Terrinoth games such as Descent and Runewars, and some which I think is brand new for the book. Opens with an introduction to the book, its settings and how to make use of it. There's then some general scene-setting taking you through some of the lore and history of Terrinoth and Mennara. It's a really useful book for creating RPG adventures in a fantasy setting or even for customising other games of the genre- it's also really handy for making your own Descent quests for example- and it's full of inspiration and ideas for such projects (and maybe some painting ideas if you use miniat...

Top Secret / New World Order Core system is fine and overall concept/theme is good. However, rulebook is a convoluted mess. Support for game has been atrocious (lack of errata, lack of replacement of missing tables, things promised and not delivered) has been terrible as well. Really want to like this game, but not sure designers have any idea how to deliver a quality product.

The Secrets of the BBEG (Big Bad Evil Guy) (PFRPG) An Endzeitgeist.com review This April Fool’s release clocks in at 12 pages, 1 page front cover, 1 page editorial, 1 page advertisement, 1 page SRD, 1 page back cover, leaving us with 7 pages of content, so let’s take a look! *CRASH* Oh boy. What was that?? Sounded like a bad crash. Sirens blaring. Focus, man. Ähem. This review was requested as a prioritized review by one of my patreons. *Door splinters in a loud explosion* “Move aside, you reviewer-git, I need to talk to my amazing fans out there! DID YOU MISS ME?? Don’t answer. That was a rhetoric question! Of course you did, it’s me, your favorite metadventurer, helping to make this bland snore-fest of a review suck less!” Wait a second, man…I wasn’t done! Isn’t it enough that your unqualified dithering suffuse this whole supplement, commenting on the crisp mechanics and delicious rules? “Nope, because that’s BOOORING!! Buckle up, folks, as we all established in the review of my amazing book, I have w...

The Vivomancer's Handbook

The Vivomancer's Handbook An Endzeitgeist.com review This installment of the Spheres of Power-expansion books clocks in at 39 pages, 1 page front cover, 1 page editorial, 1 page ToC, ½ a page blank, 1 page SRD, 1 page back cover, leaving us with 33.5 pages of content, so let’s take a look! After a brief piece of introductory prose, we begin with the first big chapter, traditionally one that contains new archetypes. This time around, we get a total of 5 new such options, the first of which would be the essentialist alchemist, who is an Int-governed Mid-Caster. The archetype also receives class level as a competence bonus to Craft (alchemy) for creating alchemical items and may use it to identify potions. This replaces, obviously, the regular alchemy class feature of the alchemist. Spell pool-wise, we get character level + Intelligence modifier spell points and a new magic talent with every increase of the caster level, but not with CL-increases from other sources. Instead of throw anything, the essential...

DDAL07-08 Putting the Dead to Rest (5e) Generally enjoyable module with an interesting villain. Its not the best of the trilogy, but it works well to close out the arc. If the party has a druid the treasure is fantastic. If not, it is a massive disappointment.

DDAL07-07 Rotting Roots (5e) Rotting Roots is probably the best of the seasonal adventures so far - from the slightly far fetched barrels to the 'cave' environment.

DDAL07-05 Whispers in the Dark (5e) Good finish to the series. Interesting timebomb mechanic to begin and end with, and a solid, atmospheric climax. The yellow musk creeper is deadly - literally - for characters in the APL range, however. Combined with the ToA death Curse and you can lose a character or two very early in the campain.

DDAL07-04 A Walk in the Park (5e) For my mind the weakest of the trillogy - but saved by one of the best NPCs ever - Wadumu. Its a basic "traverse the jungle" scenario, followed by a combat in a village. It allows for some strategy, but the DM will need to work to keep the jungle interesting.

DDAL07-03 A Day at the Races (5e) Great introduction to ToA, particularly for new players. The race is a great balance of roleplay and skill challenge, and really gives life to the Port as a location. Theres not a lot of combat in this, but the combat present is interesting.

DDAL07-06 Fester and Burn (5e) Great adventure - lots of fun, and with some intersting NPCs (Crackle particularly). As a few others have stated - If you are still within the Death Curse period in your game beware - HP draining monsters be found here and under the curse drain to Max HP does not return on a long rest. You could easily kill or cripple the characters for the remainder of your campaign.

RND - issue 1 Whether it is intelligence or creativity I'm lacking, I don't know, but I just didn't get it. It looks cool, it seems to offer a lot of material, and I have a feeling it has a lot of potential, but I couldn't figure out how to best make use of it - or even how to make any use of it, for that matter. That being said, I actually urge you to give it a try. Maybe you can find a way to make it work for you. After all, if I'm too thick to get it, that doesn't necessarily have to mean you won't enjoy it!...

DRAGONLOCK Miniatures: Turdle Fighters These tortle STLs are superb. I printed the spear tortle at 100 microns, and it's fantastic - I can see the eyelids and creases in the detail, and the shell is nearly perfect. Cleanup was minor, probably 30 seconds or less - and the tortle print was usable immediately, with no supports (I did use a raft to anchor the model on the print bed). I'd love to see some dragonborn/draconian STLs, and if Fat Dragon made them, I'd buy them!
