Saga of the Goblin Horde (Savage Worlds)

Saga of the Goblin Horde (Savage Worlds) Saga of the Goblin Horde is a creative twist on fantasy gaming, the players taking on the roles of goblins. But players aren't simple, run of the mill goblins, instead they can be Bugbears, Gremlins, and even mutated goblins! To make it even better, players are goblin bosses, bullying and pushing their minions about. There are so many choices to really flesh out a character. The level of depth in this book is insane given the page count. There are generators for goblin names and knick knacks, plenty of solid Edges and absolutley fantastic setting rules. Setting Rules are one of my favorite parts about Savage Worlds as small changes can lead to huge, flavorful results. SotGH has wonderful rules that help really convey the feel of the setting, I'm a huge fan of "Meat Shield" in particular. All in all this is a fantastic setting if you want to try something a little different that still has a solid fantasy feel. And to top it off, it's free!...

DDEX3-02 Shackles of Blood (5e) Proceed with caution: * hard railroad - the characters need to be captured (and you can't let them escape) - players hate this * a memorable last fight in a gladiator arena with super cool mechanics - takes a lot of time to prepare and play it through mentally, be ready to fudge dice to make it interesting (and to avoid slaughtering lvl1-2 characters); the arena fight might get rather trivial if characters have exceptional mobility or teleportation spells such as misty step - best to run this for characters without these abilities * few roleplaying opportunities * the adventure is tweakable to fix some of the railroading issues, but requires a lot of work and soliciting ideas from the internet - one should not need to do this in a paid modue * I would advise against running this as a novice DM ...

DDAL05-02 The Black Road (5e) My players seemed to enjoy this adventure, but I felt like the bard was kind of marginalized, without much to do. Meanwhile, the party druid was an all star providing food and water after the caravan was mostly lost in the sandstorm. Also, my players basically wanted nothing to do with the Zent caravan, which bummed me out, considering I'd planned to try to humanize the faction through them.

Ultimate Iron Age Guide: Three Kingdoms China (Savage Worlds)

Ultimate Iron Age Guide: Three Kingdoms China (Savage Worlds) I bought this supplement with the intention of running a Savage Worlds campaign set in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms period, since the game seems to match perfect for the setting. I just want to say that my opinions of it are framed more around the potential of the setting rather than the reality of the time period, with my main criticisms being that I wish more focus was placed on the former rather than the latter. What I would have liked to see: * A new arcane background to represent the powers seemingly held by Taoist priests from the stories of the period. * More crunch for the interesting features that were described, like Chariots and duels between the officers mid-battle. * A guide to naming your characters, as well as more detail on social roleplaying (kowtowing, phrases etc). What I liked: * The descriptions of strategy and historical events helps to draw you into the setting and think like a late-Han era officer. * The timeline is really useful for lining up...

In Cold Blood

In Cold Blood Turmoil in a city, where the 'lower classes' are convinced that some dread terror stalks the streets and the ruling elite will have none of it. This is an open-ended adventure, with the DM's Background providing information as to what is really going on, the encounters designed to enable the party to find out... and then it's up to them what they decide to do about the situation. It doesn't matter why the party is in town, or if this is their regular base or a first visit. They meet a rather crazy fellow ranting in the street about disappearances, and are then contacted by a priest from the Church of Salvation, which has a temple in the poor part of town, who asks if they'd investigate the disappearances. It appears that past disappearances were linked to a 'lizard cult' and some people say the current crop are similar... that is, those who have noticed anything at all. Merchants brush it all off, more concerningly they do not seem to trouble the town guard either. However some indi...

7th Sea Core Rulebook (Second Edition)

7th Sea Core Rulebook (Second Edition) As someone who adored the original 7th Sea, this feels like a return to a beloved game and a massive evolution of it. John Wick is a game designer who's made a ton of games, most of which feel like they've led to this. Characters are swashbuckling heroes with mechanics to back that up. The nations of Theah present an interesting fictional Europe (and beyond!) with magic and myth amongst it. The setting is deep, but still ultimately about the player characters. The previous edition had a good fictional Europe, but this version feels both more researched and more progressive, which it should be as this is a fantasy world. The system is roll and keep (them all!) which is similar but more extreme than the original 7th Sea. Now all those lovely dice are clumped together in batches totalling 10 each. These results allow you to not only succeed at what you're doing, but select which other risks in a challenge you deal with and which don't. This level of agency of the players is sub...

AGLAECA the RPG - Quick Start Rules

AGLAECA the RPG - Quick Start Rules I was lucky enough to be a playtester for Aglaeca and see its evolution from the game it began as to the one it has become. Though the premise is the same, dark sword and sorcery in a saxon/Conan/Beowulf type fantasy world the rules have developed into a unique and interesting mechanic that takes in account your characters past experience and family trade in a way that effects the character in a lot of what they do. The amount of choices within the 5 main character or heroic 'classes' means that no two characters will ever feel the same and the history, background of the character really lends itself to immersion and really feeling a sense of attachment to your hero. Its the fine detail that makes this game shine without it becoming to crunchy, the hero's date of birth determines their star sign which in turn can affect the characters personality, the choice of god will determine whether they will aid you when called upon, the family trade effects how you character acts around others ...

Red Markets: A Game of Economic Horror

Red Markets: A Game of Economic Horror Hebanon Games has created a mechanically elegant game in Red Markets and placed that system in an intense survival horror setting. Even better, the setting's horror does not only come from the zombie tropes you might think but from the sense of grinding poverty. In Red Markets, your PCs have to adventure to eat - collecting Bounty to pay rent in isolated enclaves set in undead-infested wasteland. The player-facing Profit system allows for narratively-driven role playing while still giving the game a tiny bit of crunch. If you're looking for an easy to learn RPG that allows for a variety of playstyles in horror setting, Red Markets is here for you....

Red Markets: A Game of Economic Horror It's hard to imagine that we're looking an actual original take on zombies that makes them not only scary again, but also that the whole package is set in a beliveable near-future dystopia that generates so much excitement and amazing stories around the table like nothing before it. Absolutely crammed with ideas and inspiration, Red Markets weaves a perfect backdrop for you and your friends to craft characters in and watch them struggle to control the rate at which their lives crumble. More than a zomibe game, more than a poverty simulator, more than a soul-crushing, rip-roaring good time, Red Markets is the most fun I've had watching all my friends lose their will to live and demand to keep playing late into the night....

Red Markets: A Game of Economic Horror Disclaimer: Let me start out by saying that I backed the Kickstarter of this project. I have been a longtime fan of the crew of Role-Playing Public Radio (RPPR) and Caleb Stokes’ scenarios were some of the best (so good that I converted some of them so that I could run them in my Dark Heresy gaming group- I still hear them talk about Lover in the Ice). When I heard that Caleb was working on a zombie apocalypse-themed RPG setting (and after hearing some of the actual plays on RPPR) I was definitely interested. I have been looking to run a zombie apocalypse RPG after I retire my Dark Heresy game (which has been going on for nearly a decade now and counting) and didn’t really like the Dead Reign, All Flesh Must Be Eaten and End of the World: Zombie Apocalypse systems. I have finally finished reading Red Markets cover to cover and I think this is the system I’m going to use. Caleb spins a great story (over a 100+ pages) of how the zombie apocalypse happens in the near future. I found t...

Gold&Glory: Seven Deadly Dungeons
por Nathan C.

Fecha en que fue añadido: 11/22/17 16:45:33
Gold&Glory: Seven Deadly Dungeons My first roleplaying experience was like many others in the form of a dungeon crawler. Over time I grew away from the systems that typically portrayed these and found my way to Savage Worlds. While SW is an amazing system, it always lacked a certain nostalgia that I had for dungeon crawls and their ilk. I can now officially say that this is no longer the case as Gold & Glory scratches the old school fantasy itch incredibly well. At first I thought that this would handle random dungeon creation with several example dungeons, and while it does so splendidly, the first 50ish pages include fast and random character creation, gear, rules to tweak the Magic and Miracles backgrounds to better reflect that D&D feel, easy encumberance rules, and some other nifty setting rules. I was expecting a random dungeon generator, what I got was that and so much more. As a bonus, I think that this product is fantastic for GMs new to Savage Worlds, particularly the monsters found in the book. Many ...

Finders of Fortune: Three Treasure-Seeking Prestige Classes Just got this and am very happy with the content, especially for the price! The art is a fun and evocative. DDAL06-02 The Redemption of Kelvan (5e) Lots of traps, plan accordingly!! If you have a combat heavy party, they will struggle with this one. If you have a very cerebral group, they will enjoy this adventure. It was a blast to run as a DM, and I admit I got a thrill out of watching my party struggle with the traps. Either they figured out the traps and blew the DC or they had no clue and I had to throw them a bone. My only complaint is the lack of Season 6 adventures, which is not the fault of the writer, but rather WOTC. It is fun to run - do so!...
