HarnManor A great resource for your Hârn game. This is also good for depth to any other fantasy setting. The Hârn world is about role playing, not roll playing.

DDAL05-06 Beneath the Fetid Chelimber (5e) I\'m a little surprised by some of the low ratings for this adventure. It thought it was interesting, easy to run, and made sense. It may not be groundbreaking, but overall, I really liked it. I\'ve certainly played and DMed much worse AL adventures.

DDAL05-11 Forgotten Traditions (5e) **SLIGHT SPOILERS BELOW:** *Caveat: I have neither run nor played this adventure, so take my opinion with as much salt as you see fit.* The premise of this adventure sounds interesting and the opening scene/encounter is very atmospheric, but the rest of the adventure is a bit linear and also a bit vague. Unless your PCs are Zhentarim, they don\'t really have a clear reason for going in there, and there\'s no clear goal to find once inside. The main encounter occurs when the PCs are leaving, back through the way they came in. As they\'re heading for exit, I can only imagine my players asking me \"Ummm, we spent 3 hours in there. Was there something in there we were supposed to find?\" Lots of the rooms inside are empty of either traps, enemies or NPCs, containing only \"friezes\" showing or describing Giant history, with boxes of info for the GM to read out. One or two such rooms would have been interesting, but there are slightly too many rooms in which nothing happens other ...

Dungeon World

Dungeon World Great game so far. We have only run one session, but very keen on continuing. It plays fluid and instrinsically keeps interest in a way that some games don\'t. Some transitioning awkwardness came from falling back into D&D routines, but I\'m sure with a bit of experience these can smooth out. The game coaches you through a lot of this implicitly anyway. The rules are a bit squishier than I am used to, and I\'d say if you like games like Torchbearer, Dungeon World might be a stretch. It very much looks like a smaller publisher\'s game, as while the art is nice enough, it is clear they haven\'t poured money into artists, so don\'t expect Pathfinder-style art. But this publishing style also allows for a more conversational book, which makes a lot of sense, considering the nature of the hobby. In short, liking it a lot. Not a revolution in gaming, but if you like D&D, or similar games, and you\'re sick of pausing the game to do some research because someone decided to gra...

DDAL05-06 Beneath the Fetid Chelimber (5e) More of a combat heavy module which is good as it lets players flex some muscle from time to time. The combat overall made sense and was fun to run. A really low level party could easily wipe if they aren\'t careful as some unfortunate rolls can cause pretty high spike damage in some encounters. The skill challenge was pretty average and basically came down to just rolling a dice and seeing what happens. If you have the right party member it is trivial and if you don\'t it is a little annoying. ...

DDAL05-07 Chelimber's Descent (5e) This was a hard adventure to run. A lot of times these products have skill checks built in to help players out but this mod didn\'t really include that. There is only one combat which is totally fine but it wasn\'t commenserate with the build up to get down there. The puzzles are pretty complex and rely on knowledge of deities that broders on minutia. Finally the spell book found and copying spells caused a pretty big fight amongst the players and what they could do with this when they have no players with spellbooks. Next time I run this I would prep similar to a hardback chapter and not a DMs Guild adventure....

DNA - The Buried Zikurat OSR Adventure Originally posted: http://punverse.blogspot.com/2017/01/the-buried-zikurat.html-
Overview: The Buried Zikurat is the second part of Kevin Watson\'s Haunting of Hastur series. It\'s for a party of characters level 6-8. It has an implied setting, but is easy to import into any game. A zikarut has been discovered by a clay mining operation and the pc\'s are hired to investigate. Layout: Each room of the zikarut is presented in a simple and useful layout like this: Number - Name of Room Ingress/Egress: how to get in and out of the room and where it leads Description: Detailed description for the DM. Players: Descriptions for players: Lore: History of the room. Not all room descriptions feature this. Crunchy Bits: 1 new monster (Nexus Guardian), 1 new spell (Destroy Stone), 3 new magic items (Boots of Formene, Cloak of Formene, Ring of Elvenkind) Thoughts: This adventure is full of puzzles/riddles. This is a nice change of pace from most published adventures I see, which ...

Nations of Théah: Avalon (Book 2)

Nations of Théah: Avalon (Book 2) Avalon, the 7th Sea analogue to Britain, is a place of myths and magic, a land where the Sidhe still dwell, a race older than human beings but dwindling now. It\'s made up of three kingdoms - Alvalon, the Highland Marches and Inismore - but all hold the glamour, the mystical nature of ancient Celtic lands. Avalon is a beautiful and terrifying place, legend woven through the fabric of reality. Chapter 1: The Glamour Isles is the main part of the book, jam-packed with detail on the history (or is that legends?) upon which present-day Avalon is built, beginning with the Sidhe. The islands were united under a single monarch early on, the first king being presented by the Sidhe with an artefact - the Graal - which he was told would provide protection and blessings. Indeed it did until one king in 1028 who had three sons divided the kingdom between them instead of nominating one to succeed him. One son protested and was banished for his pains, the other two fought each other to a standsti...

Past Lives: Secrets of Reincarnation An Endzeitgeist.com review This pdf clocks in at 32 pages, 1 page front cover, 1 page editorial, 2 pages of introduction, 1 page ToC, 1 page SRD, 2 pages of advertisement, 1 page back cover, leaving us with 23 pages of content, so let\'s take a look! Reincarnation in d20 and its derivatives, ultimately (and undeservedly so) often boils down in relevance to being a subpar version of returning the dead to live and a plot contrivance. This pdf\'s mission-statement is to change this. Formatting-wise, this is achieved via the introduction of a so-called past-life profile - and no, that is NO chosen by the player. A past life profile conveys a series of bonuses to a respective PC at certain levels - this is represented in certain abilities gained, etc. While the design-goal is that of a net-gain, each past life also has an accompanying disadvantage stemming from the experiences of said existence. The unifying downside of the past life profile is that spells that return the dead from ...

Campaign Backdrop: Marshes & Swamps An Endzeitgeist.com review This installation of the helpful environmental toolkit-compilations by Raging Swan Press clocks in at 87 pages, 1 page front cover, 2 pages of advertisements, 1 page editorial, 1 page ToC, 1 page stat blocks by CR, 2 pages of author bios, 1 page of advice for reading statblocks for novice GMs, 1 page SRD, 1 page back cover, leaving us with 76 pages of raw content, so let\'s take a look! Taking a cue from Raging Swan Press\' other, no less intriguing compilation books, this one features a table of all statblocks used herein by CR (spanning the range from CR 1/4 to 10) with accompanying page numbers and, as a nice service to the talented authors involved, we get a page of author bios, which is great to see. But what is this? Well, the short answer, as already hinted at, is that this is basically a toolbox for a specific type of terrain, namely the swamps and marshes. Where other Raging Swan Press collections for example collected the significant am...

Ultimate Occult An Endzeitgeist.com review This massive sourcebook clocks in at 150 pages, 1 page front cover, 1 page editorial, 1 page SRD, 1 page advertisement, 1 page back cover, leaving us with 145 pages of content, so let\'s take a look! So, what is this? This book basically represents a take on psionics, one that re-envisions it as using the psychic magic system. Basically, it lets you use psionics in a game that doesn\'t, for whatever reasons, allow the use of Dreamscarred Press\' superb Ultimate Psionics. This endeavor is based, in short, on three base classes: The Mentalist gets d6 HD, 2 + Int skills per level, proficiency with simple weapons, 1/2 BAB-progression, good Will-saves and Intelligence-governed prepared psychic spellcasting of up to 9th level. Instead of having a preconfigured spell-list, they receive two psychic spheres (the analogues to psionic disciplines), +1 at 4th level and every 4 levels thereafter -starting at 2nd level, one spell per spell level that is associ...
