Prototype: Mata Hari, an Advanced Class for D20 Modern by Devil?s Workshop / Louis J. Porter Jr. Design. This is a six-page document (five after OGL) with a clear layout and a lovely full color piece on the first page but no other art and some wasted space on the final page.
Nearly a page and a half of fiction at the beginning of the product frames both the class and its abilities. As one would expect, the Mata Hari class is a spy, a seductress and a genius at mixing potent chemical mixtures for nefarious ends. A classic serial villainess, the Mata Hari is the perfect foil for the male hero, but vulnerable to the virtue and fists of a stalwart heroine.
The Mata Hari is relatively skilled in combat, though she tries to avoid it, especially if she can strike from surprise (and with a poisoned weapon). But her main skills are those which manipulate others into doing her bidding, the Mata Hari will seduce, lie and trick to gain every advantage against those that she opposes. Their strongest abilities, gained at later levels, are their abilities to mix poisons and finally elixirs that can replicate supernatural effects. Four example elixirs are presented (including a brute serum that makes people into brutal ?cave men? and an aging elixir to put her enemies into an early grave).
The Mata Hari class is an excellent realization of a classic pulp villain, and may not fit well outside of that genre, but for a pulp adventure . . . heroes beware!

QUALITY: Very Good

VALUE: Satisfied
