Black and white, scale varies from map to map, no grid...not very useful for a minis game.

As I mentioned in my other review of the first Modern Day Maps, you can never get enough maps for a D20 Modern game (or any modern game, really). It?s hard to come up with this sort of stuff on the fly, because players know when it?s wrong. So along comes the second installment of the map series, detailing 20 different maps.

LIKED: There are quite a few useful maps, including an octagon fighting arena, parking lot, strip club, subway, and tollbooth. There?s also a whole prison theme: jail cell (for when your players finally get arrested), office cubicle (another form of prison), prison shower (for when they?ve been in prison too long), and prison yard (for exercising in prison).

DISLIKED: With the proliferation of miniatures, maps are simply not enough these days. We need grids, at least for the maps that could be printed to scale. Like the original product, some of the maps are too specific (maybe I just want ONE horse in the stable map).

But most egregious of all is the lack of scale. For some reason, not all the maps have a scale to explain how big things are?which makes it even more difficult to customize these maps for miniatures.

In concept, these maps are a great starting point. But given the quality of maps (with grids!) available today, you can do better.

QUALITY: Acceptable

VALUE: Satisfied
it was kinda lame-- not as good as the first one at all. But it still had some helpful maps. EVen though it was really difficult to scale.

QUALITY: Disappointing

VALUE: Disappointed
This is similar to the first Modern Day Maps. I can't believe I wasted $5 on this thing. If you really wanted to, get AUTOCAD, and draw up some building plans. It is more expensive initially, but it pays off if you plan on making your own maps...and it REALLY pays off if you happen to be an engineer or architect.

The last five pages are advertisings for various Haven: City of Violence products. Several basic misspellings. Maps look decent, though they're plain and more detail would've been nice. Some shading and 3D top-down affects would add quite a bit of spice to them. I think I counted 20 total maps. Not a complete waste of money, but I have no desire to buy more expensive LPJ Design products if this is an indication of their quality.
