First I will note that I am not incredibly interested in including Forsaken in my classic werewolf the apocalypse, so my reading of those particular rules has been cursory so far. But even with a brief once-over, some things jumped out at me. The tribe set up for converting W:tA into W:tF isn't nearly as good as the Vampire translation guide, it only allows you to introduce the classic tribes as lodges in the new game as opposed to an option for making them a tribe or lodge like Vampire did with clan or bloodline.
Secondly is the gifts. This product gives guidelines for converting them to the new system, but doing soonly in the point based level of the new system and it only gives an example of a single gift being converted between the games. This was one of my real drives to purchasing the translation guide; to have a possible decoupling system for the levels of the new gifts so I can buy a level 2 but not have to purchase the level 1 and to actually have access to the gifts at least from the core werewolf book. Instead I get a conversion guideline with only one example of one gift, unlike the Vampire translation guide that ported every single discipline in the core book.
I give this two stars rather than one, though, for the traits and systems chapter; its suggestions make the gauru form feel incredibly powerful and terrifying and make crinos epic all over again. The best part in this chapter, though, is the expertly done Harmony system; I really like how it captures the feeling of being a garou.
Even with that bright spot, though, I do not feel like I got my money's worth out of this product as compared to the Vampire guide. After the Vampire translation guide came out I bought Requiem supplements because much of the work was already done and I could run a game with the best elements of fun. This product doesn't add more value to the Forsaken line and doesn't motivate me to seek out Forsaken books; why should I spend money AND more time and work to make everything fit together when this guide was supposed to make everything easier?
