I was a backer of the Kickstarter for this project, and the final product justifies my choice. Dreams of Ruin is something rather singular of its kind- it's an "endgame"-level old-school nemesis-situation that takes the weird inner logic of early D&D perfectly straight and then applies it to something that's more or less the end of the world. It's exactly the sort of thing that could only be produced in this day and age, when even the most personal expressions of gaming interests can be launched into the world for widespread sharing.
Why should you grab it? Because it's an apocalypse that tries very hard to maintain internal logic and coherence while cooperating directly with high-level D&D characters and their capabilities. The Dreams themselves are a nemesis that could be easily ported into other fantasy genres, but the way in which it's all been set up to mesh with ultra-high-level D&D adventurers and their abilities is really fascinating to behold. Nobody else is doing stuff like this that I know about, and you owe it to yourself to see just how weird and interesting Grabowski makes the situation.
