The Genius Guide to: Loot 4 Less - Pretty, Pretty, Rings is a 11-page PDF (ten pages if you remove the credits/OGL page) for the Pathfinder RPG written by Owen C. K. Stephens and published by Super Genius Games. This is the fifth of Super Genius Games’ Genius Guide line (and second of the Loot 4 Less series).
The layout is a screen-friendly landscape design, with cover art and 1-column on the first page and three columns on the rest. The two charts are easy to read and discussion about the new rules and design is placed in grey text boxes. There is quite a bit of art in black and white pieces (apart from the full color cover) showing a variety of rings attached to a variety of body parts.
The focus of this product is on inexpensive, yet useful, magical rings. Scattered throughout the product are boxed “Behind the Counter” text discussing and explaining why things were done the way they were and how they work mechanically. This Genius Guide introduces a variety of weak, but useful, magical rings often mimicking feats or providing a narrow range of bonuses. It is a curious collection of magical rings. The rings are quite focused in their abilities so they are likely to remain useful up until the midrange of levels and allow for considerably customization of a character’s options.
Pretty, Pretty, Rings is a solid and useful book if not quite living up to the high standard of the first Loot 4 Less product. It is still well worth purchasing for the options and interesting (minor) magics presented within.
