Damnation City

This is a very useful and well written book. Managing a city is quite a task and, honeslty, some details can easily escape your attention. The guidelines and tips that this book gives are mostly easy and quick to implement so I'm finding myself consulting it to improve my own city designs. I advice to give this book a good read, even if you are using a real city for your chronicles.

Last but not least, the fictional city that the book includes in chapter six is pretty well done, so if you want to save yourself a lot of work you can use it.

Very good book. Apart from having very interesting bloodlines, it also has cults from different historical periods, good advices on how give players the feeling that their characters have the weight of history over their shoulders and tips to include flashbacks to ages past in your game sessions. Also, having bloodlines from all around the world is interesting, specially if you are setting your game outside the more usual countries

The Blood

This book is, in my opinion, in a similar boat as the Requiem Chronicler's Guide: very useful for beginning, but not specially helpful for veterans.

The best point this book offers is how it makes game mechanics understandable from a storytelling point of view. For beginners is easy to get a little lost with die pools, where to spend your available dots and, generally, lose a little touch with the concept while you deal with character creation and game mechanics during your first sessions. If that is your case, then this book can be very helpful to see game mechanics, characters and story as a whole.

Definetly, I would have loved to read this book when I was starting out.

Requiem Chronicler's Guide

The Requiem Chronicler's Guide is a decent read, but if you are an experienced storyteller most likely much of the information and advices found here you will already know. I'd advice to get the covenant and clan books over this one in that case.

On the other hand, if you are new to this or aren't too experienced at storytelling, then this is worth a good read and you'll find it helpful to get you started.

The most interesting part of this book is, in my opinion, the sets of alternative settings and rules it gives. Even one to play Requiem without clans!

The Invictus

This is a good book. It follows the standard structure of all covenant books (a chapter about their history, another about their organization, another about unlife among them, etc), but I found this book more enjoyable than many the others. It helps a lot if you want to make neonate characters feel like they have a chance to earn a reputation despite elders dominance, specially with the addition of guilds, knight orders and many other ways to give players plenty of tools to make their way in the covenant. Also, the Blood Oaths (the "invictus sorcery", to simplify it) was a very interesting part of this book.

I must admit for us the Invictus was "that old obsolete covenant no players want their characters to belong to", but after this book it has become a far more interesting option.

I really enjoyed this book. The first part, fully written as a story, makes it very fun to read. Besides that, the Shadow Cults part was also very good. All in all, this is a book worth reading even if you're not too much into the Mekhet clan.

A good book, it has made us to use more this covenant. It's fascinating the amount of different practices and ideologies that can be found inside the Circle of the Crone, in this book there are a lot of interesting ideas that can add a lot to your chronicles.

Mythologies

An interesting book that offers several origins for vampires, similar to the VII covenant book where you had 3 possible versions. I found all the possible origins presented interesting (particulary the one where vampires are born due to fear), and specially liked the breath drinking discipline. Also the book's introductory story is one the best I've read lately.

A good book again, White Wolf is doing quite well with the covenants books. What has surprised me more is the big amount of history and ideology included. I know it's probably the most political covenant but I didn't expect so many pages dedicated to the matter. The Carthian Law is one of the things that I liked more of this book, it's very interesting to implement it on the chronicles. The examples of carthian failures and successes was also a very good read. All in all an interesting read.

This books contains three possible options for this covenant. It's up to every storyteller to decide wich one likes most. It's an interesting read and particularly the first option (developed by Greg Stolze) it's very well designed. It's a good book, although I think it's a bit short and the art could be better.

Ordo Dracul

At last a high quality work! After reading the two bloodlines books I was a bit disappointed with White Wolf but this book made me remember why I liked their books. It includes a summary of the Ordo Dracul's history, information about the life of the different members of the Ordo Dracul, the different ranks and factions, explains how the Wyrm's Nests work, introduces a few interesting bloodlines and keeps a mood like all the Requiem books should have. Even if you don't use a lot this covenant in your chronicles I would reccomend to read it as it is very interesting and fun.

Bloodlines: The Legendary

A bad book, I expected more from White Wolf. Only 2 or 3 bloodlines are interesting enough. If you want to see more bloodlines buy Bloodlines: The Hidden rather than this one, The Hidden is better. Many of the stories and background of the bloodlines shown here just don't fit in the mood this game should have and won't be a good addition to your chronicles. Unless you want to play Vampire: The Freaky.

A work too disperse, maybe creating too many bloodlines was a hard exercise of creativity for White Wolf. I only find interesting maybe 4 or 5 of all the clans included. Anyway, the few that are well developed are really good. All in all it's not a bad book, but don't expect too many great things from it.

I've been a player of Vampire: The Masquerade for some time and I was reluctant to try this new version. I finally decided to buy this book and have a close look at it and it's pretty good. The game has changed but it also has some nice points. Specially good if you didn't like the vampire origins in the original version or if think that the rules of generation restricted you, now you can be powerful without commiting diablerie.
