At 7 pages, 6 are the content.
P2 informs you how to use the tables.
P3 & 4 give examples.
Pages 5-7 are the tables.

The PDF is colour throughout, with pictures of steins/tankards/bottles.

Some of the results rolled can be somewhat amusing.

At 35 pence/46 cents, it's very much worth getting.

At £1.88/$2.51, it's worth looking at (quite detailed).

Tyrannosapien: Creatures of the Apocalypse 11
Publisher: Outland Arts
by Stephen Y. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 08/04/2016 15:04:41

At 11 pages, 8 are the content.
This beast looks like an oversized 'Velociraptor', of sorts; but the claws are at the front, not the back feet.

Size is approximately just under 13 feet high to just under 23 feet at max height.
Page 3 gives a good size comparison of this large beast to a humanoid.
You could very well get trampled.

Some heavy hardware would be needed to take this one down.
Artwork is good for depicting the creature.

I'd hate to think of the carnage that a pack of these could do.

And best of all, it's free!

The Hero's Journey Character Sheet
Publisher: Barrel Rider Games
by Stephen Y. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 08/04/2016 13:52:32

A two page character sheet with hand drawn artwork, giving it a 'ye olde' look to it.
I'll likely use it in conjunction with my own version.

The 2 pages cover practically everything you'd need to make note of.

Worth a download: it's free.

Fire, Blood, and Steam: A Game of Post-Apocalyptic Steampunk Adventure
Publisher: Lobopod Games
by Stephen Y. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 08/01/2016 05:11:35

Out of 43 pages, 39 are the content.
Fire, Blood, and Steel (FBS), starts at page 4 with the table of contents.

Page 5 is an introduction to RPGs, page 6 is a synopsis of the theme/background of the game.
After that, it goes strainght to character creation.
You have basically 2 choices on race: human and lycanthrope/anthropomorphic (of which there are 3 types):
Type 1 Lycanthrope is a permenant animal type (they cannot change from human to animal form).
Type 2 Lycanthrope is able to change from external events.
Type 3 can change at will.

Lycanthropes/anthropomorphic types can be bison, fox, hare, panther, moose, etc.

Abilities are left and right cranial which covers thinking and creativity.
There is also Physical Fitness.

After that is Weapon Skill, then a list of non-weapon skills: Ballooning, Bluff, Silk Farming (of giant sipders), Artillery, Equestrian, Explosives, and Artisan skills (covers carpentry, blacksmith, Sculpting, mechanics, Gunsmith, swordsmith, Tanner).
More could probably be added.

One page covers a small assortment of generic weapons (ranged and 1 melee: hatchet). More could be added.
There is no armour list.

There is no mention in the PDF of what you need dice-wise until you get to page 20 (Combat). A d6 is needed!
At least a minimum of 2d6 anyway.
I cannot help but think it is somewhat bare/incomplete in some ways (weapons, skills, abilities, etc), but that's not to say it's not good. There's plenty for the GM and players to expand upon.

There are 2 character sheets (one coloured tan, the other is printer friendly).
Apart from the printer friendly character sheet, the rest of the PDF has a tan brown background.
A printer friendly version might have been nice.
At £1.52/$2.00, it's OK.
Worth a look.

Star Ascension: Skirmish Edition (FREE Quick Start)
Publisher: Radiant Gaming Systems
by Stephen Y. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 07/29/2016 07:34:43

Out of 46 pages, 44 are the content.
A greyscal/printer friendly version would do well (I agree that colour printing this would be rather expensive).

Art work is rather distinctive (no too bad).
Typo? (p2, 5/46): Laser weapons: 'A laser weapon uses a number ammo based on the number on the damage setting'.
Should that be 'uses a number of ammo'? Not sure.
A good sci-fi setting for the D6 system.

Either way, a pretty good PDF for a starter.

Well worth a look (especially since it's free).

Stephen! Thank you so much for your feedback! We definitely will be working on a grey scale optimized version for this and future Star Ascension publications. Thanks for catching the typo! I\'m a tad embarrassed to say it\'s not the only one we\'ve found so far. I\'m sure you\'ve probably caught a few others. We\'ll be correcting these errors and pushing out a corrected version later this month. We\'ll be excited to bring you more Star Ascension soon! Keep your laser gun handy! Stuart Yee

A detailed map of stars surrounding the Sol sector.
Similar to the Mars map, it has 3 files: TIF, JPG, and PDF.

It details used planets, jump points, and planets containing sentient species.

Depending on your computer system, redrawing the map when you increase/decrease detail, or move the map takes a few seconds.

At £0.76p/$1.00 it's worth a look (it might give you some ideas, etc).

Publisher: Stygian Fox
by Stephen Y. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 07/26/2016 05:11:11

You get 3 files with the download: TIF, JPG, and PDF files.
Each give a detailed section of Mars (a long valley/trench-like sector).
Each part of this sector is claimed by various countries fairly similar to todays countries (Chinese Heartland Republic, Brazil, Japan, United States Reformation, European Union, Russian Federation, etc).

Very tempted to use this for my own RPG system.
The PDF file seems slightly slow loading (background, then planet, then the valley section), but it is rather detailed.
At £0.76p/$1.00 it's worth the purchase.

NOTE: it does not detail vevery part of Mars, just the valley section.

This PDF is 173 pages (169 are the content).
Artwork is ok, b&w.
Exiled in Eris is Sword, sorcery and blaster fantasy.

Brimstone Open Beta - v0.3
Publisher: Golden Griffon Games
by Stephen Y. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 07/11/2016 07:52:13

At 71 pages, 68 are the content.

Artwork: Very good, quite evocative. I hope they keep to it.

The only error I coudl find, was an axe overlaid one some text (top left) on page 19.
The characters have the standard STR, DEX, CON, INT, WIS, CHA.

No character sheet (but that shouldn't pose a problem), any OSR sheet should suffice.

It's nicely laid out.
And since it's free, you'd be daft not to get it.

Very much worth a look.

Swords and Savagery Monsters
Publisher: New Realms Publishing
by Stephen Y. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 06/29/2016 05:54:02

At 23 pages, 22 are the content.
There is no content list of monsters at the front, or index at the back (as some books do).
This is basically a bestiary for Swords & Savagery.

The usual B&W art seen throughout the other books.

Therea are 5 pages of monster abilities.

Some monsters have 'varieties' (different types of Goblins & Orcs for example): pretty good.

No dark Elves (oh well). Something to create at some time.

At £2.72/£3.71 it's pretty good (and needed to complete the collection).

At 8 pages, 7 are the content.
It contains a collection of rule additions, clarifications and optional rules; and a new class (Elf Scout), which is susceptible to chaos.
Artwork: 1 piece, seen in another pdf of the game.
There's an action tabe & encumbrance table as well.
A pretty good addition to clarify and add to the rules.

66 pence/90 cents, worth getting to complete the rulebook.

Swords and Savagery
Publisher: New Realms Publishing
by Stephen Y. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 06/29/2016 05:35:09

At 30 pages, 29 are the content.

Dice needed: D4, D6, D8, D10, D12.

The abilities are: Might, Mind, Body, Spirit, Inititative, Movement.
You roll 1d6 for each of the 6 abilities above (there are also ability modifiers as well).
Your class will will also supply modifiers.
Then you choose your skills and Body points.

Combat: 1d6 plus Initiative modifier.
After you've determined your Proficiency, Ability, Action Level, Difficulty Level, and then determine success.
Success points: Subtract Target Number from dice roll equals number of success points.
For most actions, you either succeed or fail. Although, sometimes the GM might want to know how well the player succeeds, and usues the success points to determine how well the result was, and describes it to the player.

Artwork: B&W, same style as Ogres & Underworlds (some artwork is the same).
Some typos. One was p14: arrows: 10Gp & bolts: 15Gp. It gives the cost, but not the quantity you get.

At £2.72/$3.71, it's fairly good; but worth getting the Monsters book, and the Expansion 1 book as well to 'complete' it.

Rats in the Walls
Publisher: North Wind Adventures
by Stephen Y. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 06/07/2016 04:13:25

Out of 14 pages, 10 and a quarter are the content.

An Inn/tavern keeper requestng help from the players, as he has a serious rat problem.
Sounds simple enough; not really.
Quite a good scenario for beginning players.
It appears as a fairly standard 'dungeon crawl', with rats as the main antagonist, and a suprise one at the end.

There are also some secret doors, and the loot (which should keep the players well equipped for a while).

There's also an ending note about a possible were creature - interesting.

The only thing I found that stopped this scenario from getting a 5/5, is on page 7.
It shows a map of the dock where the inn/tavern is, and 4 very small floor maps all on one page.
I had to zoom the page to 150% to see the maps.
These could have been put on a separate page or two to make them bigger, giving a much better view of them.

Edge of Space: Science Fiction Roleplaying
Publisher: Chubby Monster Games
by Stephen Y. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 06/06/2016 06:11:51

At 8 pages, 7 are the content. It has mutiple formats (which is useful).
Edge of Space (EoS) is a simple 2d6 + skills + target number (TN) system. Reminds me of the Star Trek & Lord of the Rings RPGs by Decipher.
The background is an Aliens theme.
It has 6 professions:
Grunt, Support, Scientist, Officer, Company Man, Merc.

Maybe the odd error (P2: Grunt 1: Rifle, 2: Rifle)? Maybe Rifle then Pistol?
When hit, the health states are: Healthy, Shaken, Wounded, Mortal, Dead.

Yes, you can get other RPG's which are more detailed, bigger page count, etc; some are even free (Age of Shadows, Labyrinth Lord, etc, to name a few).
An experienced role player can house rule this system (given enough time), to add other details; it should be too difficult.

At 69 pence ($1), it's OK.
Worth a try.
