Compared to other monster books I've read, this one is far from spectacular. It covers about 50 of the most generic and well known creatures, like dwarves, orcs, manticores, yetis, and zombies. I've baught it because the BESM 3rd Edition doesn't provide stats for any creatures, and because of the difference in Edition, you can't use the creatures right "out of the box". However, they make a good starting point for designing your own creatures and can be converrted quiete easily.

The main selling point is the small price. While I wouldn't pay any more for it, it is definately worth its monney.

A good list of monsters for the BESM Fantasy theme. Would have preferred 2 or more pictures of each monster listed, but still well worth the cost.

Excellent resource for BESM and Tri-Stat DX games set in a fantasy realm. Very hard to find the print edition, so this PDF was well worth it for me. Good clean copy, don't think it was a scan, but an actual PDF document judging by the overall quality.

It's exactly what it's promises: A bestiary i.e. a number of races / monsters / critters translated to the BESM system. No more - no less. It's definitely not a source book on how to portray these creatures in a Anime setting (for this purpose take a look at "Uresia - Grave of Heaven"). Instead you get "just the facts", which I found very helpful.

A good book detailing lots of standard fantasy races in BESM terms. The only disappointments are the lack of fantasy anime races such as slimes.

BESM not worth it should be the title. A useless book of stats that anybody could have made up themselves. Don't even think about it. By the way, I like BESM, I just don't think this book has anything of note to really offer.

The BESM Fantasy Bestiary isn't just a monster manual. Each entry is presented as a template, with two examples given for how you can customize that template to produce a variety of characters.

In addition to giving you fine control over the strength of monsters, it lets you use any of the monsters as a potential PC race. Templates can also be stacked, and several of these are begging for it (like vampire and werewolf).

The only flaw the book has is a tacked-on magical items list at the end. It wasn't necessary, and it's not very useful.
