If I have said it once, I have said it 100 times. There is no such thing as too many monster books. This is the book you want to fill your games with all sorts of nasty beasties. The monsters are largely OGL derived and that is 100% fine by me! As with the d20 rules, True20 monsters are built like characters, so a creature that has certain powers has to be an appropriate level to have them. It means that monster building on the fly is a bit trickier till you get the hang of it. But this book provides hundreds of monsters, so that is not an issue really. The creatures have a fantasy origin, no surprise, given True20's fantasy antecedents. The creatures here though are constrained to fantasy settings though. Dinosaurs and Dragons can attack in downtown Manhattan and vampires work well in every setting just to give a couple of examples. Again, a must buy for any True20 fan.

This is the monster manual for True20 and has a collection of monsters, some familiar & some not, just as you'd expect. Let's face it, there's not much to say here. If you like True20 then this is pretty much a must and/or should have for you, and it's totally worth price.

True20 versions of SRD monsters, plus some of Green Ronin's own invention. Also includes monster design guidelines and a number of templates. There's no overlap with the monsters listed in the core rulebook so far as I can tell.

LIKED: The stand-out innovation is the Combat Unit template, allowing the GM to create a single large "monster" from a number of smaller ones working in concert.

QUALITY: Very Good

VALUE: Very Satisfied
A nice addition to the true20 library, but mostly just conversions from the d20 monster manual. Expanded conversion and monster creation is helpful and makes the book worth buying. Overall a good product but could use more (original) creatures or a lower price (3 or 4 USD cheaper sounds about right)

LIKED: Conversion and creation rules, feats, system.

DISLIKED: Not enough original creatures.

QUALITY: Very Good

VALUE: Satisfied
