?E-Adventure Tiles: The Lair of Vermithraxus? by SkeletonKey Games is a 25 tile pdf that was designed for use with Grim Tales: The Seven Saxons by Bad Axe Games. This set of tiles represents the lair of the dragon Vermithraxus. The ownership of Grim Tales: The Seven Saxons is not required to use or enjoy this product.
This product features 27 tiles (25 for the lair as shown in the module and 2 bonus tiles). The tiles are part of an underground cave system in which a dragon or dragons live. It should be noted that where your dragons can chase the PCs is somewhat limited. There is one 10 tile chamber that could easily be the lair of a colossal dragon. The rest vary in size though there are a number of tunnel sections that are only ten feet wide. Other areas are a PC eating dream come true, it they feature large pits or chasms with narrow slime-covered ledges. One of the greatest things about this set is the sheer abundance of details. We have tiles with lost dragon scales, steam vents, glowing crystals, broken eggs, undamaged eggs, the bones of victims, blood splatters, pooled water, slime, fungi, spores, water bodies. One of my favourite is tile LoV14, which has a blood splatter that looks like the victim might have been torn and dragged in two directions.
Confession: Though I have a number of Ed?s tiles, I have a poor imagination when it comes to using them. But again with this product I?ve been saved because included in the set is a picture of how the tiles should be assembled.
As a crossover product: While reviewing these tiles I also had the pleasure of reviewing Grim Tales: The Seven Saxons. The last half of the module uses the 25 tiles provided in the main set. This was a wonderful addition to that module. It really speed up play that I had 25 tiles ready to go and didn?t have to draw a souless cavern on my battlemap. I think the details on the tiles help make the lair a place where dragons are living.
This is definitely a set to print in colour as some of the details may be overlooked on a black and white map. Find the ink for this set to be colour.
