The Far Reaches is essentially a humor comic which parodies many things such as the typical aspects of epic fantasy and popular culture. While the storyline is not extremely refined, The Far Reaches is intended to make you laugh more then anything, and it accomplishes that well. Its style in humor can be compared to the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. If you don't enjoy absurdity or parodies, you may not enjoy The Far Reaches' humor, but you will find it hard not to appreciate the beautiful scenery and detailed machines. The art quality and style does, however, vary on some pages because some are older then others. Despite this, it keeps its flavor and the characters in their essence remain the same.
On the more negative side, it lacks much of a storyline, yet in its case this can be excused, as its intention is for humor and the story is just there to get things going. You may be a bit lost story-wise as you read this, it is non-linear and has some random interludes. Rest assured, they'll make you laugh, though you may not really know what is going on in the story.
My overall impression of The Far Reaches was very positive. It made me laugh out loud (which is saying something, because I personally can be rather stiff and humorless at times.) The scenery and vehicles and high-techiness of the art was beautiful. Not to say that the characters were any worse then the vehicles, but there is a lot more detail to the vehicles as the artist chose to have a more simple art style with his characters, and I'm not complaining.
There isn't any reason not to download The Far Reaches and read it over the weekend, especially since the price right now is very cheap. If nothing else, it'll make you laugh.
My rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars. It is seen as 4 out of 5, but I found that 4 was too little and 5 was too much. Deducted .5 from the score due to the lack of a easy-to-follow, flowing storyline.
