Aether & Flux: Sailing the Traverse
by John B. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 08/20/2016 16:15:38

I must say, I was really impressed with this Interpretation of the spelljammer theme. From the game mechanics to the ideas of how everything works in game, Aether and Flux fixed the shortcomings of Spelljammer. As much as I love Spelljammer, Aether and Flux dose it in a way that makes sense.

Temples and Shrines Floorplans
by Wendell B. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 12/30/2015 16:02:52

The maps are very detailed and come with quick descriptions of each area, and have 5' squares marked for play. I did notice on the cathedral map that the room descriptions for rooms 27 and 28 on the first floor are switched, but overall it seems very useful.

Worth the buck
Two different floorplans one for player one for the DM.
In one room there is a hidden compartment which is just one square wide.
In the DM map it is visible in the player map the room is hidden!.completly.

Visira: City of Sorrows
by Singh K. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 01/20/2015 17:34:02

I own a number of other products by Darkfuries and I was honestly expecting it to live up to the high standards set by their Masterworks Maps series. In that sense, Visira is a huge disappointment. It's just another typical over-wrought storyline set in a city with far too much detail for the parts of their storyline, and not nearly enough usable information for a GM who simply wants to run city for his players. Yes, there's a slew of detailed establishments, but where are they? Yes, this is yet another 'city product' where the creator mistakenly thought that GMs wished to buy a city that needs to be keyed and populated. Visira doesn't even bother to name streets, just 'districts'. Here's a newsflash; anyone can draw a map and a bunch of rectangles on it to represent buildings, and call it a city, in an afternoon. That's the easy part. Determining what's in each and every building, that takes some time and consideration and planning. You won't find that in this product.

Urban Designs: New Glory Naval Base
by Dave G. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 03/16/2014 14:45:18

Wow... what a fantastic map!

This one is huge, and covers a wide variety of buildings - don't be put off by the fact that it's a naval base, it's got a hospital, cinema, gym, nightclub, barber shop, laundry, dental clinic, classrooms, warehouses, various shops and diners, workshops, offices and even a chapel !

It's an entire community.

Each building is mapped separately, and highly detailed - even down to where the power supply comes into the building, along with NPC's you'd expect to see and workers shift patterns for each building.

This one product gives you a large selection of ready made buildings to drop into any modern/post-apocalyptic game, and comes with plenty of hints at possible scenarios to link everything together.

Worth getting if you need maps of buildings, even if you don't need a full naval base.

NOTE - the key on the overview map is reversed ! If you read it as 'A' as the rightmost column and 'o' as the left, then each building description has a grid ref to locate its silhouette, however the reverse is not true - there is no easy way to look at the map and work out 'what is this building?'

Urban Designs: New Glory Naval Base
by Kurt L. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 10/18/2013 17:00:48

Like the other reviews say, this is incredibly detailed. If you need a military base for your campaign, this will fill the need. My only complaint is that the building locations are not cross referenced with the map. There is no easy way to go from the map to the description of a particular building without searching through them all.

Urban Designs: Black Knight Casino
by Customer Name Withheld [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 07/05/2013 08:52:38

Absolutely fantastic map, the detail and coverage is incredible.
From Slot machines to Hotel rooms, parking levels through to helicopter pad, and all the 'staff only' areas you'd expect.
With the variety in this one building - casino floor, restaurants, cinema, conference center, bowling alley, vault, shops, hotel rooms, there's even a crazy golf course and swimming pool! It's got everything you'd ever need.
It's certainly going to be a common destination in most Modern/Cyberpunk games I run now.

The only thing that is missing is a VTT image to use, and an ability to selectively print out room numbers/furniture separately from floor plans (as available as layers on other products).

Vaugrox Castle 25mm Battle Plans
by Skully C. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 06/08/2012 20:24:33

A very nice product.

I was looking for a ready made battle map of a keep of castle and this one one works out very nicely.

Pros

  1. Black and white only. Many would claim this is a disadvantage but at 113 pages this saves a lot of color toner. Also, the detail is much cleaner than if it would have been filled with color.

  2. This is a full size castle ready to be printed and invaded! Great job Darkfuries!

Cons

  1. Why is the PDF not named 'vaugrox.pdf'??? Are the designers still running 8-bit file system? Modern computer can handle very long file names why not use them.

  2. Resolution is a bit blurry. I think they must have scaled a smaller image up to usable size.

So far it's been hit or miss with their products, but this one is worth the cost because it's a real time saver.

Castles and Keeps Floorplans
by Skully C. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 06/08/2012 19:34:00

A very disappointing product.

I was looking for a large keep or castle that I could print out as a set of battle-maps and this product was not usable.

Cons

  1. The scale is not in 1 inch squares. I have to manually scale each image.

  2. Images are named with numbers not by the name of the keep. Really, how hard would it have been to use human readable names. Each keep has only a handful of images but put them all in the same directory and it becomes very time consuming to work with.

  3. GIF format not PDF! Really? How hard would it have been to include both?

  4. Not pre-broken into printable sizes! Yes I can do this manually but it takes time and the only reason I buy items like this is to save time not add to my work load.

  5. A clumsy web interface is used to access the images. See comment #2 above.

Pros

  1. They are very nicely drawn maps.

Masterwork Maps: Chasbin Keep
by Singh K. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 05/14/2012 19:13:04

Another fine Darkfuries product, this is well drawn, extensive floorplans, good descriptions.

It falls short, however, in not offering full-size maps of the entire structure in both a GM and a Player version. This hurts the product because it's such a large castle. It wouldn't hurt to also include a drawing from the outside, to 'set the mood'. It's annoying to only be able to print out half a map at a time.

Still, as usual, lots of bang-for-buck at $5. Recommended.

Masterwork Maps: Temples and Shrines
by Singh K. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 05/14/2012 19:10:00

Darkfuries hits a huge home-run with this one. Yes, it's $10, but YES, you get your money's worth! Richly drawn maps, 34 of them, from ornate and extensive to simple and clean. With descriptions of each room, and prominent NPCs, as well as the Dieties.

The only downside to this is that I'd really love to have a player's version of each map, a bare-bones map that has no detail, just walls and doors, no secret places shown. That would be nice, that would take a great product and move it to the next level.

But this is a great product. If you want a slew of temples, this will not disappoint.

Masterwork Maps: Strongholds & Sanctuaries
by Singh K. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 05/14/2012 18:15:27

There are only 3 map settings in this book, however, the level of quality in the first two is extensive and well thought out, with a lot of detail and plenty of substance for to build a scenario around. That detail and intelligent design merits 5 stars.

Good quality product, you get a nice selection of floor plans and the layouts suggest that some thought went into the placement of the rooms and the prospect of what's in each one. Recommended.
