I really appreciate the Romulan write-up, since (AFAIK) there haven't been Romulan talents published elsewhere, just the attribute increases. Nice to see them getting some attention as properly fleshed-out characters.
I've noticed in other crew packs that sort of stuff isn't always addressed--Bajoran characters are in the DS9 one and Betazoids are in the TNG one, but unless you have the original core rulebook, you can't make your own with actual talents (eg. if you have the Klingon core rulebook, or the Rules Digest instead, you're out of luck).

So, reprinting and expanding upon previously-published races is always appreciated, and I'd like to see it done more often. I shouldn't have to have two or three copies of the core rules to get access to all the playable races, it's needlessly redundant. Who runs Modiphius? It's Quark, isn't it?

The lack of Synth stats were pretty noticeable, though. Do I use the Soong Android from the TNG crew pack?

The Romulan talents are in the core book, listed as talents for some of the Romulan npcs.

The core rulebook contains talents and info for 8 species, including Bajorans and Betazoids. You only need one core book. No need for multiple copies.

Other supplements provide more species and info on key worlds. We may expand on holograms and artificial life-forms in the future. The Soong Android stats and the EMH info in the core book and Voyager crew pack should work as starting points for synth and Picard-era holo-characters.

I have the Rules Digest, and it calls the Romulan talents "special rules". It's not clear that they're available for player characters, and the Rules Digest doesn't have Romulans as PCs at all. Once you said that they were talents, I went back and compared them, and it makes sense. But the difference in language doesn't make it clear. Neither that book or the OTHER core rulebook--the Klingon Empire book--contains Bajorans or Betazoids.

Rules Digest doesn't have EMHes, and IIRC the Klingon book doesn't either, though.

The trouble is that there's three core rulebooks, each with different variations of content, when many of these bridge crew supplements assume you've got the *original* core book, which isn't always the case--that's what I was trying to say, much of the original core book's content simply isn't printed elsewhere, and that's to the game's detriment. Why do I need a second or third set of the core rules when the Rules Digest should suffice? Isn't that the point of...See more

You could use the free character and ship builder app to build characters and ships if you don’t have all the products. It’ll be updated to Utopia Planitia eventually.

A very impressive little product with one big jarring type. The term "Insight" is repeated where it should be "Reason" with every character listed. A fix soon would be nice. I also think there should have been at least one more page with Seven's starship and the Romulan Warbird.

Did the fix already happen? I just did a quick word search and outside of the attributes sections I only found insight being used in Rios' Field Replicator talent.

Yep; version 2.0 was uploaded Wednesday July 6. Check your DTRPG library. If you don't see it, contact DTRPG customer support, or as a last resort, support@modiphius.com.

I actually bought mine today, I just read the message here and than checked the PDF I bought. I'm aware there have been errors in the past such as the Attribute stats for the Voyager characters equaling 59 instead of 56 and Phlox's Medicine stat not being enough to match the requirements for a talent.

I don't know the exact timeframe in between an error being noticed and when it's corrected. But thanks for confirming the version I have is the correct one.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
