"Shadows of Yog-Sothoth" is a pulpy scenario in the vein of Indiana Jones'. It railroads the PC:s from Boston to Scotland to the Mojave desert to Maine and on to Easter Island. The freedom of choice and the investigative angle is more or less non-existant (chapter #5 in particular feels like a sheer harassment of the PC:s). The mission is also pretty lame; prevent R'lye from rising by preventing an artefact to fall into the hands of an international cult. A yet more damning verdict is the poor research done on the history of Easter Island and the mythology of the Rapa-Nui. At the time of the publication, you could have expected this adventure to at least tie into the cautioning tale of Easter Island as a fallen civilization that first wrecked the local ecology, then regressed into tribal warfare and finally resorted to cannibalism, leaving but a few surviving degenerates to eventually greet the dismayed Europeans. Chaque page est passée par un programme de reconnaissance optique ces caractères (OCR) afin d'essayer de déchiffrer le texte imprimé. Cependant, un texte dans un livre donné sur un fond graphique ou avec des fontes manuelles ne sera probablement pas reconnu par le programme OCR, et ne sera donc pas pris en compte dans les recherches. Aussi certains livres imposants peuvent être redimensionnés pour correspondre au système, et peuvent ne pas avoir cette fonctionnalité de recherche de texte. La plupart des livres les plus vieux et en rupture d'impression sont dans le format images scannées.

Ces livres électroniques ont été créé à partir des versions électroniques, et permettent donc d'utiliser pleinement la fonction recherche. De plus, la taille de leur fichier tend à être plus petite que celle des livres scannés. La plupart des livres récents sont dans le format électronique original.
