Heroes… Legends… Gods

In the dawn of the 21st century, select humans erupt with incredible powers previously seen only in comics and movies. These rare 'novas' are all too real, however, and their abilities and personalities will change the world forever.

Awaken the Power Within

Aberrant d20 is a game of epic superpowers. This campaign setting is fully compatible with the d20 System, with source material on an Earth transformed by novas - plus new classes, feats and powers so that you can take on the role of one of these modern gods. Hardcover.

Sword & Sorcery books are published under the Open Game License and are 100% compatible with v.3.5 rules and the d20 System.

In this book, you play novas, people who have manifested the ability to manipulate the fundamental forces of nature. Some novas wear masks and uniforms, protecting the world as "superheroes." Others use their powers for more practical purposes, or serve baser needs. The Æon Society attempts to use novas to guide humanity to a better future, but do they have everyones' best intentions in mind? The Aberrants don't think so.

Hidden Lore

ReleasesThe second of the d20 Trinity Universe books, Aberrant d20 is the second book ever published using the two most popular RPG systems. Published on July 5, 2004, the setting material persists largely unchanged from the Storyteller edition, with the exception of some additional material from Project Proteus indicating that Æon Society founder Max Mercer (see Adventure! d20) may still be alive and active in running the Society.

The Cover: Tom Fleming created the cover, featuring several notable characters from the setting. Prominently featured are Divis Mal of the Teragen and Caestus Pax of Team Tomorrow, flanking the first nova, the Fireman. In the background are a few other elements: a silhouetted figure standing on a rooftop (the Gothic Knight?), and the XWF's Duke "Core" Baron facing against the Teragen's Geryon. The mercenary elite Totentanz can just be seen to the left. The back cover continues the piece, with Team Tomorrow's Addis Ababa HQ, and headshots of several other characters.

Whoops!: Aberrant was originally advertised in the back of Trinity, initially causing people to think it was a Trinity Era supplement about Aberrants. The ad simply had "ABERRANT" written in a graffiti or sketchy handwritten font, with the loops in the R's replaced by the number 9 (indicating that Aberrant was releasing in 1999). This is still visible as the inner handwritten part of the Aberrant logo, including the "99," although 1999 has no particular meaning within the setting.

Art: While many of the artists used were standard White Wolf artists of the time, Aberrant used a number of up-and-coming comic book artists to help reinforce the feel of the setting. Many of them have since gone on to fairly lucrative careers within the comic industry.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
