Fading Suns Referee Expansion [BUNDLE]

Heretics & Outsiders
MSRP: $9.00

Threats to Crown and Soul The Known Worlds are rife with those who refuse to follow the social order. Whether practicing their rebellion in private or fomenting public revolt, these malcontents threaten the powers-that-be. Heretics refuse to follow the Church's doctrines of proper faith, and so risk their own souls and those of others through their example. Psychics plot to overthrow mundane humanity -- or worse, attempt to force psychic awakening on others through the mysterious Sathra Effect.

It is not only humanity's soul that is so threatened, however, for its very right to rule itself is challenged by the potential power of the alien Vau Hegemony. The incursions of the metamorphic Symbiots threaten to warp peoples' own bodies. What's more, barbaric human star-nations l...

Orphaned Races: Ascorbites & Hironem
MSRP: $10.00

"If there's one thing I've learned in my years as a merc, it's stay away from the Bugs and Lizards. They're both hidin' somethin'!"

Orphaned Races examines two of the sentient races of the Fading Suns universe: The insectoid Ascorbites and the reptilian Hironem.

The Ascorbites, native to the Decados-ruled jungle planet of Severus, are perhaps the least understood race in the Known Worlds. Their alien culture -- formed by a hive-mind -- has proved resistant to most of humanity's attempts to understand it. What's more, the Church claims that the race worships dark entities - gods the Ascorbites claim will one day return to drive the "soft-flesh" humans into slavery The Hironem, native to the Decados-ruled planet of Cadiz, revere their ancient culture-bringer...

Spies & Revolutionaries
MSRP: $10.00

Notes from the Interstellar Underground Blur suits and wireblades now complement the cloaks and daggers of the past. In the 51st century, spies are a necessary evil. Without their deft fieldwork and cunning intelligence, noble reigns would topple and guild monopolies crumble. Although small in number and incognito in guise, these spies daily betray trusts, seed lies and mistruths, steal high-tech secrets and even poison rivals -- all in pursuit of their patronsÕ power. Even the Church plays these games of death and deceit, using ill-gotten secrets to sway their secular rivals -- or protect them from a greater darkness.

Anarchists and discontents lurk in these same shadows, seeking to topple the current order and replace it with their own. Whether they dream of a new ...

MSRP: $8.98

A Vorox stands nearly 10 feet tall, bristling with six limbs (each usable as a hand or foot), a full set of fangs, a superb sense of smell, and an uncouth attitude which gets worse the hungrier it gets. Noble Vorox (and their untamed cousins in the wild) even bear poison claws capable of paralyzing prey in mere minutes. What's more, Vorox travel in packs.

And they're still not the premier predators on their homeworld. Ungavorox is one of the universe's most inhospitable places -- even the flowers are carnivorous. With such dangers constantly hanging over their heads or waiting from below their niches in the trees, it's no wonder the Vorox quickly developed sentience and a tight-knit society.

The Vorox book takes a close look at these fascinating sentients and the ecosystem...

War in the Heavens: Hegemony
MSRP: $10.00

Ever since the Vau gave humanity its first setback among the stars, their space has been shut to prying eyes. For a brief moment, however, it has opened - long enough for the most daring to catch a glimpse. But the daring need as much wisdom as courage, for encounters with the Vau teach that things are not always what they seem.

Included in this volume:

Book One: Inception - A sourcebook explaining the histories and cultures of the Vau and the other sentient citizen races of the Hegemony.

Book Two: Elabi - The Vau are inviting select groups of Known Worlders to visit Vau worlds and open a dialogue between cultures. Inevitably, the question arises: What do they really want?

The previous installment in the War in the Heavens trilogy, Lifeweb, featured the s...

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
