The Told You There Was No Coming Back

Vincent screamed when he saw us - me - again. After killing me, he'd expected me to stay dead. A reasonable assumption, don't you think? But my Shadow and I, well, we're not reasonable people. - Ryan Shearin, Risen

They Lied

Here's what tou've been waiting for: the way back to the Skinlands. Here's what you'll need to get there. Here's the terrible price that, no matter what, you'll have to pay.

The Risen is a guide to the Walking Dead, those who dare to take their bodies back from the embrace of the coffin. Included are the powers, limitations and history of the Risen, as well as the terrible secret that each revenant carries with her. Gaze out from the sepulchre, and remember: Passion will always be stronger than the grave.

The Risen includes: Everything you need to create a Risen character - or to bring an existing wraith character across the Shroud; New Arcanoi, Merits and Flaws that only the Risen possess; Rules for travel back and forth between the Shadowlands and the Skinlands.

The abandoned lover, waiting for her paramour to return, only to die, alone. Now she waits in her house forever.

The murdered family, killed in a spree so violent their spirits couldn’t pass on to the hereafter, now wreaking an untampered revenge on anyone they find.

The serial killer, who never made his tally complete in life, now determined to possess the bodies of the living to continue his gruesome campaign.

These ghosts, and more, haunt our world. They watch us, they torment us, they play with us, they find themselves locked in Sisyphean cycles, where the only respite comes through the haunting of the living.

It is our role to hunt these spirits down. Some believe we’re laying them to a deserved rest. Others hunt for the renown and to put down the homicidal dead. Others believe they’re doing God’s work, or with every hunt, their knowledge of the paranormal world increases.

We are ghost hunters, and regardless of our motives, it is our task to ensure the dead may no longer torture the living.

Just so much fun. Wraith with risen characters seems like such an obvious step. Especially NPC risen. The only element I would of liked some more connection to the Kuei-jin. [...]

Did you like The Crow? You'll love this book. True, Risen are SICK powerful, but that isn't the point (or, at least, it shouldn't be). Playing a character THIS DRIVEN is a real experience. [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
