Hopefully this isn't the wrong place to ask, but what suggestion would you have if a player wanted to be a Mutant Plant?

If your GM is fine with it then may the sun shine upon your character and all of their adventures. I'll probably work up some more specific rules for plant characters in a future expansion, but at the time I was writing the original game Ward & Jaquet hadn't accounted for people playing as plants, so I didn't think to add them as a playable category.

For the time being, I'd say roll 'em up just like a Mutant Animal, including using the Animal Mutations table as interpreted by the "Animal Mutations" listing in the Plant Mutations section. If they lack any kind of bipedal ability, assume they're rooted in soil (presumably in an easily portable container, or if they're lucky a wheelbarrow). Also, you're going to have some issues if the plant lacks a method to communicate, as well as an ability to sense their surroundings.

I think a fair bit of negotiation with your GM will be necessary to make them playable. Good luck!

Just bought it, and it looks cool. The art has a weird quality that when you zoom out, it is covered in a checkered pattern. The images don't seem flattened either

The images are vector graphics made in Adobe Illustrator, and the checker pattern is a tiling artifact from the pattern fills I'm using for the tones.
Thanks for the feedback and for purchasing it. :)

I did a test print on one of the pages from the downloadable .pdf and it prints cleanly. As long as it looks all right at 100% scale I feel it's doing the job, but YMMV. Scaling is just going to cause that effect unless you're working with a super high definition monitor. I hope it doesn't bother folks too much.

Thanks for the reply. The game looks awesome, I love the addition of cybernetics and vehicles. Glad we have another GW-inspired OSR game out there

It's in the works. Since this is my first foray into self publishing there's some learning curve. The softcover should be available in the very near future. :)

BJ, is this going to have a print on demand option here?

And nice to see you get your work published! I very much remember your posts on the GW mailing list.

Yeah! The softcover book is currently going thru the approval/publishing process and should be available soon!
It's amazing that 20 years have passed by so quickly. Thanks for the reminisces. :)

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
