I sent away for my copy of the Robotech RPG after reading an ad for it in a comic book in 1987 when I was 13 years old. It cost me $10 plus $2 S&H. No kid ever made better use of 12 bucks than that.

One of my favorite rpgs in my youth (with Palladium´s TMNT). A simple but great game. And a wonderful edition.

I really hope you guys release more of the 80s Robotech books soon, namely the Invid Invasion book. I haven't seen clean copies of these books in years. I'm glad to support Palladium by buying these PDFs. Releasing these is Palladium's best move since renewing the Robotech license. I like the new series of books, but these are the ones that I grew up on. I'm not a wargamer, and I lack the dexterity to paint minis, so I won't be buying Tactics. It's nice that there's another way to support Palladium's Robotech line.

This game captures the heart and soul of the second season of the original Macross. It is limited in scope but much more satisfying in its simplicity and anime feel. The 2nd addition was may be more accurate to the mecha and has better art, but lacks imagination and doesn't give the anime feels. Clearly the first addition was written by fans of the show, whereas the 2nd edition was written by fans of war gaming. Try this one out! Makes for great one shots, and the character creation system means that any character is equally useful. Yep, your J-Pop star is every bit as useful as your mecha pilot. Fun stuff.

tthe new series of Robotech RPG books is actually quite good. I think what you're referring to is Robotech tactics – a wargame.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
