First Edition Feats is a rules expansion for OSRIC™ and other 1E fantasy games. This product moves beyond raw nostalgia and incorporates recent fantasy gaming designs into the solid, reliable and fun 1E engine. This supplement introduces 21 Combat Proficiencies: alternate uses for 1E weapon proficiency slots.

Let’s make one thing clear, though: The Combat Proficiencies in this supplement aren’t just retreads of OGL feats! Instead, they’ve been designed to work according to the design logic of 1E games. This means a more modest bonus, interesting special cases and rules that consider the abstract, lengthened nature of a 1E combat round. Combat Proficiencies are designed to feel like 1e rules. They benefit from the creative surge that the OGL has given the hobby but they don’t conform to the strictly systematized nature of recent rules.

This 11-page supplement takes an OGL concept (feats) and redesigns it for 1E Fantasy games. In some ways you might want to think about it as coming from an “alternate universe” where older rules first introduced a feat-like concept. This is not far from the truth, as various editions of the world’s most popular fantasy game developed the “feat” concept over time. These rules take the latest iteration of this idea and give it the feel of the original rules.

Good way to spice up OSRIC games (or classic AD&D) with some special maneuvers derived (loosely) from the 3rd edition feats. Nothing really "needed" here, but if you have a fighter/ranger/barbarian heavy game, this might give you some fun [...]

I am glad I bought this supplement, that adds customization options into a game that lacks them. A very good point when you previously played d20, and got used to customization and don't want to abandon it. These feats were done for 1e/OSRIC, and as su [...]

I have to admit, I had my doubts-I rather like the D20 system, but I don't like it in my D&D. Hearing the word Feats in conjunction with Osric rather sent chills down my spine... Until, that is, I actually read the product. The combat techniques(ea [...]

This was a product that made me go "why"? The cover is somewhat garish but not too bad, although it lacks the old-school look that a lot of OSRIC products have; probably sets it apart. The concept is interesting but this is something I very [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
