The Hexer - A Dungeon World Playbook

Welcome to Christmas in July! For the rest of July, this digital title has been marked down by 25%! For more values, visit our Christmas in July sale page.

The world is a grey place, full of factions vying for each others throats, demons invading the lands, monsters crawling over every hill and undead laying in every crypt.

And here you are, The Hexer, just looking to get paid.

A mutant and an outcast, you spent most of your life learning the arts of monster hunting, combat, alchemy, bomb making and trapping to become the perfect monster slaying machine. Ever traveling, ever in search of that next bag of gold, you're the overworked, underpaid saviour of mankind - and they don't even like you that much.

Inspired by The Witcher books and games, The Hexer is a new complete character book for Dungeon World. Comes with a new potion and oils mechanic, a new death move and more!

A question about the Hexer's Starting Gear:

Under the "You're carrying 'something'" section, you have listed off
Rations (5 uses, ration, 1 weight)
Adventuring Gear (5 uses, 1 weight)
A Steel Blade (2 weight)
A Silver Blade (2 weight)
A Supply of Herbs and Alcohol (3 Uses, 1 weight)

On top of defenses and additional gear which are explicitly 'choose one' situations. Is it really intended for the Hexer to get THAT much stuff up front, or was 'something' also supposed to be a 'Choose x number' situation?

Also, typos: Dream Potion "contaminents" should be "contaminants", "posions" should be "poisons" Storm Potion: "natually" should be "naturally"

And question about Whirlwind:
"When you find yourself surrounded facing
down multiple foes, roll +DEX *On a 10+
treat each foe as a single opponent when
rolling Hack and Slash. *On a 7-9 you find
yourself free of the crowd, but now they
have something of yours"

Isn't each foe NORMALLY treated as a single opponent? I expect what you were trying to get at was treating the entire group as a single opponent, but as phrased, it sounds like it treats every individual ... as an individual. Which is kind of silly for a move, since that's the default assumption.

Suggested alteration:

"When you find yourself surrounded facing
down multiple foes, roll +DEX *On a 10+
treat the entire group as a single opponent...See more

The Hexer gets all of this stuff right out the bat, as they're such a equipment laden character anyway, and their Steel/Silver blade thing is part of the fiction rather than the gameplay so its not as much as it seems, Its 3 small items+Weapon.

Thanks for pointing out the issues and questions there, I'll fix that up and have an edited version out in the next couple hours. I see what you mean by the phrasing. The intent for that 10+ option is that 'group' would get one swing based on the horde mechanic in the core book, I can clean that up too. Sorry I missed this comment for so long!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
