BlackHammer Firearms 1
BPR-8 Binary Propellant Weapon System

Written & Illustrated by: M Jason Parent

System: Future d20
Progress Level: 6

From the archives of the BlackHammer Project comes the new state of the art in projectile weapon systems.

In the early years of Progress Level 6, the first successful personal weapon system using binary propellant technology was developed in a partnership between Dorland Chemicals and SIGarms. The BPR-8 uses a unique 8mm round and a binary propellant injection system in order to fulfill nearly any role where a rifle could be required, from silent operations and varmint hunting, to fire suppression and light antimaterial rifle roles. One of the most versatile weapons in the history of ballistic weapons, the BPR-8 can be used in just about any tactical role, and is easily adjusted in the field as required.

This five-page PDF (plus cover and OGL)describes the technology behind the BPR-8 weapon system as well as the firearms themselves, from the BPR-8 rifle as well as sniper and carbine variants, to the BPR-8MP machine pistol and automatic pistol models. All models are provided with full descriptions and d20 stats.

This is a book that while I have not been waiting for it, I am happy to see it come out. I know the author, M Jason Parent is a big cyber punk fan and this small book defiantly fits into a cyber punk game. It is always nice to see a writer get to write [...]

This is a really cool little book. Binary propellant technology is something I've always thought was cool, and it's nice to see goodies like this making their way into D20. My only complaint is that I wanted more! (Not sure what form it'd take, either, [...]

Some good firearms for a near future game. It reminds me of what one would find in a cyberpunk setting, and that is a good thing. Being a gun book it is limited in its campaign use, but it will get a lot of use in any setting that has weapons of this [...]

Well written and quite interesting. That binary propellants for small arms might not be here just yet, but binary explosives is, so this booklet is definitely "on the edge" of tomorrow's science. Also, I liked the fluff; it's not just "a [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
