Shaman Class (5E)

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Spiritual Power Unleashed!

The Shaman allows your players to play a custom class in your own customized 5th edition campaign.

The shaman lives in between two worlds; a world of spirituality and the natural world. They don’t see the two as being separate, just that others are blind to what they can easily comprehend. They connect with the Spirit World to bring forth great power against the wrong doings in the world. Remember that your character has a close bond to their tribe and to the Spirit World. You have a constant connection to the Spirit World and that place is always on your mind.

I love this class, but I do have a question — there seems to be an inconsistency regarding spell levels. The spells list at the end lists spells up to 9th level, but there doesn't seem to be any way for the shaman to actually learn these spells, as they are limited to 5th level spells by the character advancement table. Am I missing something, or is there just no way to actually use any 6+ level spells, despite them being listed?

Hi there Carson. The Shaman's Spiritual Whisper allows them to cast higher level spells.

As an option for you, I like to play where the DM chooses what the spells that the spirits bestow upon the Shaman for that day.

Just started diving into this. I really like the breadth of the concept and can see fitting this into a future campaign. One quick comment, I noticed that the "Sneak" Totem Power is missing from the descriptions listed on page 11 of v.1.

Thanks Joshua. I was tossing around using the title Sneak or Stealth at one point for the complimentary version of Silent, and this slipped through. Use Stealth for now, and I'll put together a revision with some other small tweaks.

I've just downloaded the latest version (May 2016) and the additional paths were not included, this is the one listed as V1. What happened?

Likewise, there are several editing issues that make this class seem like it has undergone a few revisions without cleaning up the text. Where's the best place to provide this feedback?

Hi Gaetan. You can always send feedback, or comments to michael@tribality.com

Someone else sent me an message about this, but then it started working for them. I am going to talk to our layout designer and ask for a permanent fix. Please let me know what device you are using to view the pdf.

You should see the new Corruptor path on Page 8, and then the Elements path on page 9.

Re-downloaded and managed to get the update. Note that the name is a little confusing as the version updated around 2015-05-05 is actually named "20160401-Tribality-Shaman-v1". The v0 has the same datestamp.

A full-size preview would be really helpful, since the quick preview is too small to read.

Does this draw inspiration from either the Pathfinder or DnD 4E version of the Shaman?

I've not really read over Pathfinder's version. I did review 1st, 3rd and 4th editions, but mainly stuck with inspiration from 5e's existing classes, and some other non-D&D sources.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
