Welcome to the Dragonlands!

Or the island of the evil Doctor Hybrid. Or the bandit bestiary of the Crime Zoo. Or the Spirit Forest.

The point is, sometimes heroes end up in some super-strange places, and a GM may find himself with a sudden need for some super-weird stat blocks. No GM has time to write up every possible Demonic Guard of the Tyrant Sorcerer, band of giants from the Nine Realms of Valgard, or aberrant minion of Professor Atlantis.

Now with the Super Powered Bestiary, you don’t have to! We have stat blocks and descriptions of more than 200 monsters, plus numerous alternate versions, and four brand-new villains designed to make use of many of the creatures in this book. We include dozens of monsters, animals, angels, aberrations, dragons, undead, and giant bugs compatible with the 3rd Ed M&M rules. Obviously of great use to anyone running a fantasy-themed game with this ruleset, the Super Power Bestiary also provides options for more traditional supers and masked adventurer games! Whenever a GM wants the heroes have to face the angelic agents of the Eternal Judgement, or the alien rope-monsters crash landing in a saucer, or any encounter with creatures far from human, all the stats the GM needs for the encounter can easily be pulled from the Super Powered Bestiary!

Written and illustrated by Jacob Blackmon. Super Powered by M&M.

The PDF is loading slowly on my computer and even slower on my smartphone. I can't use it during session because it's not practical. Is there a "light weight" version?

I am having trouble opening and viewing the PDF. When it opens i get the error 'Cannot extract the embedded font 'KSZKIO+Crom-SC700'. Some Chracters may not display or print correctly.' Many pages appear black and the rest are incomplete, missing art and/or text.

I got my copy the other day. While I admit to being skeptical, at first, as to its usefulness for a superhero game, once I saw the published video on YouTube (thanks, Jacob B for posting that) and seeing the book first hand I can see the many uses of it.

The animal section is very useful for characters, such as Beast Boy, who can change into animals, animal power characters, such as Animal Man or Vixen or even just characters who have pets or even characters who are based on animals such as lizard men, tiger men, etc... I'm also pretty sure if a certain animal isn't there that there's something close enough to work it out.

Dinosaurs, I think we all know how dinosaurs would be useful (time travel, lost worlds, cloning, dinosaur men and so on).

Dragons, while not as common in comics do appear and there's always extra dimensional fantasy lands (such as DC's Skartaris) and, again, dragon men.

Monsters, a bit of a harder sell but there's always a possibility...See more

Straight DnD monsters converted to M&M.
Disappointed that this wasn't advertised as there is no reason to grab this book if you have a monster manual from a d&d which can be converted to M&M.
They should detail that this is basically the monster manual for M&M

Thank you for that video link. Before I saw that I was a bit skeptical about what use a Monster Manual translation would be to a superhero game but the video really proved me wrong. I wasn't even thinking about the collection of everyday animals, the dinosaur stats, and the undead. I am working on a 'lost world' type setting where the dinosaurs would come in handy and the everyday animals would be endless useful (not just for the animals themselves but for using them as a guide to make a character who is some form of cat or wolf, etc..). I actually see this book as being endlessly useful. Just wish I knew about it when it was on Kickstarter so I could have pitched in to it. I never seem to know about these things until it's too late.

What's different in this book from the previous incarnation, since I have already purchased those?

The compiled version has some new art, and some new monsters, and a new villains tied to material in the book. It's otherwise just compiled and reorganized, with a foreword by Steve Kenson.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
