Fellowship 2nd Edition - A Tabletop Adventure Game

ADD TO WISHLIST >
Selected Option:

Fellowship is a game for 3-6 players about going on an adventure, in the same vein as Lord of the Rings or Wakfu or Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders. The system is loosely based on the Apocalypse Engine. In Fellowship, one player is the Overlord, a maniacal being who has become a Threat to the World, and everyone else forms a fellowship of heroes to stop them. The focus of Fellowship is on the journey you take and the communities you meet, and saving the day is what you're here to do.

Every single player in Fellowship has a ton of narrative control, taking some of the burden off of the typical game master's job. You are playing as a hero, a champion of your people, and you are the truth in all things related to your people. When you play as the Elf, you decide what the Elves are, what their culture is like, what they value and care about, what their relationship is with the rest of the world. When someone asks about the Elves, all eyes will turn to you for the answer.

One player is the Overlord, the one attempting to destroy this world, and they create a character just like everyone else does. They control the forces of evil and they have a master plan that the fellowship must stop. They play by different rules than the other players, and will do their best to make sure saving the world is an epic journey and a fun challenge for everyone.

Some feedback from Kickstarter backers, who got the game early:

"[In our game], our world is an Archipelago with Hawaiian Kobolds and Germanic Barbarian Halflings. The Empire is a far flung London-expy, the mer-elves control the sea lanes from their underwater Greco-Roman citystates, and the Dwarves were created by the God of Battle. Unfortunately, the God made them too well; they ate him and live on the island of his hollowed-out scorpion body." - Adam Ultraberg

"The Fellowship Playbooks do something that a lot of roleplaying games do not: they plainly explain how to play a roleplaying game for newbies and give some good GMing advice. Like, having that all in the handout is wonderful!" - Nicholas Arroyo

"My one regret is that it's going to be basically impossible to get my actual play recording group to switch over to this IMMEDIATELY as our ongoing campaign." - Anonymous

"Things my group did in the game I just ran:
1. Fired the halfling out of a cannon so he could fistfight a renegade space angel
2. Said halfling tore around on a bear yelling about how great he was until villagers asked the party meekly to stop him
3. Threw a flashbang in the Overlord's face immediately after his "I'm doing this for the greater good" monologue and made off with his sword in the confusion
4. Arranged for the Overlord to sit in mashed potatoes immediately after his "I'll get you next time" monologue
5. Other things

This is a Good Game." - Anonymous

Question: Can the GM play the Overlord? We don't have any players that want to play the bad guy.

I'm interested in getting this game, but I notice that the first book is the only one without options for print on demand. Is there any word on why that is and when it'll be back?

There was an error with the reprint I recently did. Unfortunately the book will not be available in physical print until I have re-proofed the book, which can take as long as a month.

Where can we find fillable versions of core playbooks? I believe Inverse and In Rebellion have fillable versions

I've noticed that the art in the handout playbooks is lower in quality, notably lacking any shading and with indistinct edges. I'm assuming that this is for compression reasons or to print more easily, but is there any chance of getting a set of the handout playbooks with the original higher quality images? The art in the book proper is all very nice.

I'm very interested in additional Team playbooks, such as the Rebellion or Ship mentioned in the Core Book, as well as additional alternatives for the Overlord. Are these projects still on the horizon?

Interested in buying the softcover + PDF combo, but noticed the comment saying that physical book sales are disabled.

If I purchase that combo, is anyone sure what will happen?

Is the plain white background the only version that's available right now for the PDF? I appreciate that people wanted that option for accessibility reasons, but I liked the parchment-y background of the first edition version it was easier on my eyes.

Will there be any discounts or other options for those of us that bought a print copy of 1st Ed to upgrade?

There will not, my apologies. Upgrading the PDF to second edition for free is the best I can do for you.

So if there's no discount for 1e physical book owners, and we want a physical copy of 2e, plus the new books announced in the kickstarter, what's the most cost-effective option?

What's the estimated difference between the at-cost price we could get via pledging in the kickstarter vs the full price if we just bought them here when they release?

When I clicked on the link first, imgur told me access was denied. After copying and pasting your direct URL, I could see it, and the link works.

If I had to guess, imgur is blocking direct links with a referring URL (when you click the link) but if you've loaded it before, the link appears to work because the browser has the image cached.

Quick errata question: The Halfling has a Traveler's Carriage and Halfling War Wagon listed under 'companions'. Both of these have 2-3 traits each, but neither are listed in chapter 7, and as far as I know they're unique, so I don't know what any of their traits do. Were they somehow left out, or are their traits listed somewhere else?

Now that I mention it, The Harbinger has a Jacksled and Witch's Broom listed under its companions that isn't listed anywhere, either.

These things do not have stats in chapter 7 because they do not need them, as they are not enemies you will face. You can't fight a broomstick, and you probably will never fight a carriage.

The War Wagon not showing up is an oversight, but Companions do not have the stats in chapter 7 while they are Companions. Those stats are only for Threats.

Hey guys, I would also very much appreciate a PDF version with plain white background. If that is not too much ask it would enhance readability greatly for me.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
