Spheres of Power is a completely new magic system for the Pathfinder RPG and other D20 systems, built from the ground up to provide an easy and intuitive approach to concept-based magic. Spheres of Power lets you adapt magic to fit your needs rather than forcing games to adapt to the magic, and contains everything players and GMs need to bring a multiplicity of concepts to life through a system of at-will abilities, talent-based magic, and a ki-like system of Spell Points.

With this, the Hero Lab files for the Spheres of Power book, you'll find:

  • 20 Magic Spheres — including alteration, creation, conjuration, dark, death, destruction, divination, enhancement, fate, illusion, life, light, mind, nature, protection, telekinesis, time, war, warp, and weather.
  • 11 New Base Classes — including the thaumaturge, the elementalist, the mageknight, the armorist, the occultist, the eliciter, the soul weaver, the fey adept, the symbiat, the hedgewitch, the shifter.
  • Advanced Magic — including rituals, spellcrafting, advanced talents, and incantations. These systems may be implemented in part or en masse to grant a gaming table complete control over how magic interacts with their setting.
  • Casting Traditions — allowing both players and GMs to customize not only their characters, but even the entire concept of magic itself.
  • Magic Item Creation Rules — adapting the entirety of magic item creation to the new system.
  • NPCs for every new base class to spark ideas or drop into a game.
  • Guilds and Organizations to sprinkle throughout your world.
  • Sample Worlds, ready to play or to provide guidelines for adapting Spheres of Power to a variety of different world and game ideas.

And much, much more!

These look like errors related to drawbacks.

Hi there, I'm the developer for these files. Before I can advise you on how to fix this, I have to first know if you have other Spheres products for Hero Lab.

And we can work through this here, or if you'd prefer you can reach me by email at dropdeadstudios.herolab@gmail.com

the August 23 2021 update seems to have broken several things. I have taken a couple screenshots of the error log for your reference. https://imgur.com/a/I1v5NWG

Also noting (since your updating stuff) I noticed there is a functional mismatch with your printed book and the Hero Lab with many sphere abilities (I assume they got errata'ed or re-balanced in the handbooks) A good example is many of the Life-Sphere Restore effects are adding +1D8 to Cure effects rather then +1 HP per CL.

Also lots of confusion here - Should I expect the HL files to mirror The rules in the Ultimate Book? Or do I need to purchase the Sphere handbooks to update those effects? (which would make sense)

Any word on when the other archetypes will be added to Hero-Lab? Trying to make a Sphere inquisitor and noticed hero lab seems to be missing the option.

Other books are available as hero lab files you can also get to add onto these ones; the big Ultimate Spheres of Power hero lab compilation is under development, but I'm not sure when it'd be ready.

I might be missing it. Is there an option to convert non-SoP classes into SoP classes using Hero Labs. For instance make a Pathfinder Wizard a SoP wizard like it says in the PDF?

It should be available as an archetype for each respective casting class.

So I downloaded the latest update for herolabs and now I am getting the following error message:

thing 'iosopengrp' - condition phase/priority (first/10000) for bootsrap thing 'soptientth' occurs after earliest rule/script (first/5000)

I have uninstalled and reinstalled herolabs with no success. I looked on the forums for a fix and found that there is apparently an update to SOP that fixes this error. I have unfortunately been unable to find a recently updated version of SoP. The latest update I am seeing is SpheresOfPower_(3).zip dated 1/31/2008. I have tried using that one with no luck.

Is there another update that I am missing?

Package developer here! The error you're receiving is from a bug in the older versions of SoP that was being "hidden" by a different bug in Hero Lab's Pathfinder files. So when Lone Wolf fixed their bug and you updated it (but hadn't yet updated SoP), the SoP bug came to the surface and started causing your problem. The fix for this is to update SoP to the latest version (which is 1.32 as of this writing). If you haven't already, open up the readme file that was included in the .zip you downloaded and follow its instructions to set up Hero Lab to auto-detect new updates to SoP as they come out. You'll want to do this for the core SoP package as well as any expansion books you may have purchased like Expanded Options or sphere handbooks. Once you do that, HL will let you know any time there's a new version of any SoP package you own.

If you still have this problem after updating to 1.32, please visit our support thread on the Lone Wolf forums and post a detailed description of your errors:...See more

When I go to download the latest version of the files, there are three listed: SpheresOfPower_(3).zip, SpheresOfPower.hl, SpheresOfPower_(4).zip. How do I know which one is the most recent?

I got an email from the Drop Dead Studios, that an updated version of the file for HeroLab would be here, but I cannot find it in my library. So where do I find the file, assuming the mail was for real?

If so, then I think that's something to bring up with Drivethru RPG, then; I'm not sure what the problem could be, but if no one else is having this issue, it might be a problem with their library rather than on our end here.

Problem solved. The file still does not show up, but the update from Herolab worked, after I thought to reactivate it there. I had it removed since it broke the other content.

OK, I bought Spheres of Power, Worlds of Power, and the Handbooks for Battlemage, Destroyer, Telekinetic, and Nyctomancer, and I got pdfs. I bought the Handbooks for Diviner, Geomancer, Shapeshifter, and Enhancer, and got some files without an app to open them. There's a different purchase option for the core Spheres of Power rules that seems to include some software--does this mean I have to plunk down ANOTHER 20 bucks for the same core rules just to get this software to read my other purchases? (I have a Mac, btw, don't even know if this app would run...)

I'm not sure I understand; you bought the pdf/hero lab bundles for 4 handbooks? We don't sell apps, just files for the Hero Lab software system. The hero lab files are sold separately for all books and handbooks so I'm sorry if you purchased them accidentally, and yeah, you do need the core SoP hero lab files and hero lab itself (http://www.wolflair.com/index.php?context=hero_lab) to use the handbooks for Hero Lab, but if you don't use hero lab there's no point in purchasing any of them.

Package developer here. This issue should only occur in versions 1.14 and below (current is 1.16). If you haven't already, please follow the instructions included in the readme file to set up Hero Lab to detect updates to the package as they become available. This will let you keep your SoP files up to date so that you get bug fixes like this as soon as they are available.

If the update doesn't fix your problem, please post to this thread on the Lone Wolf forums: http://forums.wolflair.com/showthread.php?t=55344

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
