The Cave & the Treasure is a FREE tiny Random Solo Adventure.

At only 28 pages, it takes you on a quick, but fun, journey through a random dungeon, chasing a legendary treasure!

The book is based on the Random Solo Adventure rule system, though a bit minimized for the free version.

This is released for FREE (or pay what you want - all support is appreciated and makes it possible for us to continue create new gamebooks!) for anyone to download and even spread further to your friends and family.

Have fun!

Not sure if it's just me, but the hyperlinks don't seem to work. It would be very helpful if the pages were numbered, so you could manually turn if needed.

Hello,

I actually wanted to print the book to play offline, so page numbers would really be appreciated (^_^;;

I'm so sorry to hear that you have problems with the interactive links. The PDF is tested in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC, version 2015.009.20079. Try updating your Reader and see if that solves the problem.

As for printing: actually, this was totally overlooked since our goal with this free version was to create an interactive PDF, not a print item. For future free versions we will of course incorporate page numbers as well, and if we get some time to update this we will do so and put up a new version.

Currently we are however completing Random Solo Adventure number 2, Jungle Quest, and just started working on the third book, Post Apocalypse. We will also add Fantasy Dungeon as print book soon, and hopefully upload more free items.

Thank you all for downloading our book, and if anyone have any other suggestions, then please feel free to let us know!

Hello!

While I have not had time to actually play having been rather busy at work, I already noticed something about Fantasy Dungeon while printing it out: Page 113. Personally, I think that using this device hurts the idea of diversity a lot as it removes a lot of interesting details/differences at a psychological important stage of the game. I really think that using more diversity at that point would greatly improve the impact of the game.

Yours,
Ranjith

Thank you Ranjith E for your input (regarding our other book, Fantasy Dungeon).

While I do agree with the psychological effects that you are talking about on the specific event, the alternative would have created a larger book which in turn would have made it more expensive. The book was first made for print.

Even though I personally believe the specific event works, I do agree that a more diverse approach would of course have benefitted the book.

In our future books you will see that key events liket his does not have this device. Specifically JUNGLE QUEST (part 2), is different for obvious reasons that you might see if you purchase that book.

Also POST APOCALYPSE (part 3) will take more care when coming to these key events.

Any further comments on either of the books are greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Using Chrome, there is no hyperlink for opening the treasure test with the dagger at the beginning of the game.

Would have liked to see the choices underlined.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
