FOR USE WITH FANTASY GROUNDS VIRTUAL TABLETOP

A 5th Edition compatible adventure for 4 Level 1 PCs

Shrouded in whispered rumors, Crow’s Rest Island has been avoided as long as any can remember. Nothing but death, and the memories of those long gone, greet any who take to land upon the isle’s shores. It is to this island that the PCs will find themselves driven as a storm threatens to drive their ship below the waves. Awaiting the PCs are far more than ghost stories upon this island, for there lives a very real threat, hiding here among the legends that keep sailors at bay.

A classic ghost story that casts the PCs not as adversaries to the specters, but rather as their benefactors, A0: Crow’s Rest Island challenges the PCs with a tribe of foul kobolds, a haunted village, and the forgotten servant of a long departed ice devil. An excellent introduction to the Aventyr Campaign Setting, this adventure gives the PCs their first glimpse into Vikmordere culture. A0 may also be easily ported to any setting containing a northern wilderness near a large body of water.

  • A0: Crow’s Rest Island (PDF) - Introduction to the A-Series Adventure Path!
  • Detailed maps by 3x ENnie Award winning Cartographer Todd Gamble.
  • Designed to lead into A01: Crypt of the Sun Lord.
  • Pre-generated characters complete with illustrations for fast play!

I recently bought this module for FG, but it seems that pre-made characters are not there. Everything else is quite good by the way.
We're going to start the entire A-series. I could use pre-made characters as starting point for lore-linking self-made PCs.

Hello Davide V,

That's strange that the pre-made characters are not appearing.
Do you see an XML file packaged with the files you've downloaded? If so, please make sure you import those as they are the pre-made PCs.

Thanks,

Unfortunately there is not any .xml file in the package I got. I just did a thorough research. Apart from images, maps, and tokens there are some Hero Lab .por files with the intended pregen PCs names. Maybe they are the Roll20 versions of premade characters?
Everything else works fine, and my party is enjoying the A0 module a lot so far.
Nevertheless it would be nice to have those .xml file, because I am going to play this module with other players just in one evening.

Hello Davide,

Thanks for your message. I am rebuilding these characters right now in Fantasy Grounds and will add the .xml files into a zip attached to the A00 download. I'll post once complete and you can download and import them into your campaign. You'll have to add the profile and token images from the existing files though.

Thanks!

Can these be used with Roll20 instead of Fantasy Grounds?

No, this is designed specifically for the Roll20 virtual tabletop. You CAN however download the PDF version of A00 which DOES come with VTT maps and you can import those into Roll20.net.

Also, A00: Crow's Rest Island was the original featured adventure on Roll20.net and I think it's still up on that site!

I bought this as a Fantasy Grounds module after having downloaded the pdf file because I love the adventure. I ran the application and nothing appeared to happen. I manually transferred the files to their respective folders but FG doesn't recognize the module file. Is there an instruction manual or am I just missing something obvious?

Hello there! In the future please send customer support emails to Customer Support here on DriveThruRPG.com. Since I'm the publisher and they are the provider it's typically up to them to handle such issues. However, I've added the .mod file to the download so you're welcome to re-download and add it directly to your modules folder. Hope that helps!

Transfer the .mod file to the "modules" folder in Fantasy Grounds. Then open FG, open the library, open A00. Now, you should see everything.
Alternatively, the .exe file is a self-installer.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
