FVS4 - Penchant for Adventure - 1

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Penchant for Adventure – 1 is a solo adventure for a 1st level character. This series of singular adventures center around the small town of Penchant. The area in question is home to a variety of challenges depending on the level of the PC. This adventure begins with the new PCs mentor sending them to a religious coronation that they cannot attend. The PC is to travel, via burro, to the Bu-San Monastery and extend salutations to the new head of the order. In this case the journey IS the adventure!

This adventure setting was designed for 5th Edition AD&D for the Filbar Campaign for a low level solo adventurer and DM.  This adventure is easily adaptable to most any game and system. Save yourself some time and utilize it for a one shot adventure or a continuing campaign!

I think about the town of Penchant a lot, since i had it as the starting location of one of my campaigns. I love it! I remember it fondly as a perfect beginning for a life of adventures! If i start a campaign in a village again, i'll use that location once more. I recommend it :)

Unable to place a review so here are my 'comments'.
First time DMing and it all went well. My wife (over 21), son (12) and daughter (16) were the party of happy adventurers. We role played the village where they purchased a few items and spoke to the villagers before they went on. I altered here and there to suit 3 players and all went well.
All round an excellent starter for new players and DMs alike.

Hi Nadine...when you say duet campaign are you talking 2 players or just you (DM) and him (player)? If that is the case then several of the 'penchant' scenarios will work although the 5th will not. The # corresponds to the recommended level (to help guide you). If you are talking about 2 players and you the DM then the DQ series would probably be better suited for your needs! The F series takes place in our original world with the F/variants FN, FC, etc. being areas in the world as a whole. Hit us up at dukeoffilbar@gmail.com for other questions or better answers if these didn't work!

Just me (as DM) and him, yes. Thank you, that does make things clearer! I'll have a look at the DQ series. :)

Hi! I am a bit confused about the order of these modules. I would like to run a duet campaign with my boyfriend using your adventures as a guide. Is there a preferred order to run them in? Do all the adventures starting with "F" take place in the same universe, or just the Penchant for Adventure ones?

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
