Imagine you could go anywhere. This world or countless others, encountering strange alien races, new cultures or hostile environments. Now imagine you could travel to any time. Meet Robin Hood (and duel him with a spoon!), discover what terrible monster lives under your bed, journey inside a Dalek or travel to the end of time itself. Where would you go?

With Cubicle 7’s Doctor Who Roleplaying Game, the power is in your hands! You can go anywhere or anywhen in the universe. It’s not going to be easy. It’ll probably be dangerous. The universe is a hostile place, full of Daleks, Zygons, Sontarans, the Boneless, Cybermen, Clockwork Robots, Silurians and worse. There will be fear, heartbreak and excitement, but above all, it’ll be the trip of a lifetime.

The Doctor Who Roleplaying Game is a set in the universe of the world’s longest running science fiction show on TV – the BBC’s Doctor Who. This new edition of the rulebook, fully updated with imagery from the Twelfth Doctor’s adventures, presents all the rules and background you need to have your own adventures in time and space in a single volume, including:

  • A complete set of rules for playing the game.

  • Rules for creating your own characters, gadgets and more.

  • A guide to creating your own adventures, as well as two new adventures.

  • Ready-made character sheets for the Twelfth Doctor and his companions, including Clara Oswald, Danny Pink, Madame Vastra, Jenny and Strax.

  • Rules and background for some of the Doctor’s most infamous enemies – including Missy!

  • All-new imagery from the Twelfth Doctor's adventures.

  • And much more besides!

The Doctor Who Roleplaying Game has been written to appeal to both the experienced and first-time gamer. The game is suitable for 2 or more players aged 10 to 2000.

The Doctor Who Roleplaying Game is the new name for Doctor Who: Adventures in Time and Space.

Are there plans for a new edition of this with the Thirteenth Doctor?

I hope so. Moreover, I hope they make an edition that draws art and characters from all versions of the Dictor, while keeping the core book effectively generic and compatible with all. They have a good series of specific Doctor books for each regeneration - so they could easily make sourcebooks for both 12th and 13th Doctors.

As Ian said, when 11th Doctor rules were published, there were a separate pdf file for the new adventures and a free pdf for rules upgrades and new adversaries (see http://www.rpgnow.com/product/100873/Doctor-Who-Adventures-in-Time-and-Space--Eleventh-Doctor-Edition-Upgrade-Pack).

Thank you for the reply, and the link. I already have that upgrade pack. Ian's link gave me the stats for Twelve, so I'm a happy bunny for the time being. It means I have the stats for the First, Second, War, Tenth, Eleventh and Twelfth Doctors now... Just need to get the other suppliments...

Again, thank you for the reply.

You don't need to buy this again if you don't want to. Cubicle 7 are providing a free update with all the info new to this version; quote: 'Just like we did with previous regenerations of the game we’re working on a free update PDF that will provide you with the new rules material – including the new characters and monsters – without you having to buy the whole rulebook again.' link: http://www.cubicle7.co.uk/the-doctor-who-roleplaying-game-pre-order-now/

Thank you very much for your reply.

I hadn't seen that blog entry, so thank you for the link. I noticed that there was free the stats for the Twelfth Doctor, link: http://www.cubicle7.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/DoctorWhoRPGPreview-12thDoctorCharacterSheet.pdf

Again, thanks for the reply.

I cannot see the point of purchasing this product.

I already own the Tenth Doctor edition, which I purchased when this game first came out. I also have as a PDF the Limited Fiftieth Anniversary edition. So, I have the rules, and moreover, they are sufficiently updated for me to readily use.

As for pre-generated characters, Clara is in the Fiftieth Anniversary edition, and the others can be readily generated by myself anyway. The Twelfth Doctor stats would be nice, but I can simply modify the Eleventh Doctor stats, and use those.

The adventures would be useful, but I have a number of pre-made adventures already.

I get that there needed to be a Capaldi version, but if you already own the core rules, what is there to buy this edition?

Well don't forget that the last printed edition - the 50th Anniversary one - was a limited edition, so for some people it'll be the first hardback version of the game they will buy, and it'll be up to date also. Look at it as a new printing, rather than a new edition. Secondly, it's a matter of 'completeness' - with all the first 11 Doctors coming out in supplements, collectors wanting to have a book for the 12th Doctor too is understandable.

Quite true... but if you want a physical copy, don't you need to go to Cubicle 7 direct, or a gaming shop? They don't do PoD, so you can't get physical copies from Drivethru. As a point of pointless pendantry...

And to quote myself...

"I get that there needed to be a Capaldi version, but if you already own the core rules, what is there to buy this edition?"

*That* is the question, ultimately. What is there that is new to the table that this provides? Other than stats for new characters from the series, and an update on aliens? Are there new, or updated rules, for example?

It was pretty much what I was trying to find out...

And thank you for the reply. It is appreciated.

No new rules, outside of stats for monsters and characters. Much of the text is the same. No need to buy again if you have the rules already - outside of collecting completeness - just wait for the update pack. :)

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
