In Heaven Everything is Fine

But not here. Here, everything is awful. If you aren't losing your limbs to obscure diseases you're having them lopped off by solicitors and disgruntled historical figures. Life is hard and short. As a consequence of this unfortunately tight schedule we must strive to pack as much misery into players' lives as possible. Their bodies and minds must be broken or at least so damaged as to wish they had been given a more conclusive result.

It's not easy, oh no, but we're here to help. If you've never had a game where a player has retired their character due mental anguish, outraged at the morals they have so flagrantly tossed away, fondly looking back on a time where they had all their limbs, then The Undercroft is the place to go. We can help. Or maybe...

Open Up And Let The Devil In

The Undercroft crawls into its second issue, slightly stretching out the legs. It's a tight fit but the number two suits it; the minimum multiple, the difficult second album. Forgive me for parading around for a while. Would you read me? I'd read me.

This season we see many hands upon the knife, many names pinned to the board and held accountable for the terrible things we are about to do. And I thank them. It can't be avoided in noting the powers driving this issue. From the cover to the very heart of it, we here at the Melsonian Arts Council have been honoured with a profusion of talent. Please take the time to laggardly draw your weary eye across the pages they so lo...

Our Bees Make Honey

We return again, sooner than ever before, stripped back, packed tight and full of interesting people. Mercenaries and forest men, neither what they appear to be, both examined in their own way and at length, sprawled at their leisure across the lion's share of the issue. More than just transferable actors, they are part of the worlds from which they come and can bring it with them if you allow it. Each being so situated that admitting to their existence is tantamount to accepting the place that spawned them; the civil disorder and portentous forest suggest themselves through these ambassadors, and this is a good thing. Let them into your campaigns untouched and then rejoice as you create beautiful rationales for their existence.  &nbs...

A Womb With a ViewWatch it slither down mother's leg. Admire the glistening splendour sat squirming on the floor. Look! Barry's here, he couldn't stay away and continues to confuse history with his gentle hand. See here! We employ rules to impart a  paradoxical formlessness, thankyou Lord Inar, or Mr. Gacy to you. Lawks! It's Master Gearing come back from the wars with another monstrosity. Lo! It's the prettiest Princess, come with another troll he claims to be dreamy but I see it for what it is. Each a precious facet of the creature you hold in your arms, a moribund remnant of an effort spent. It only wants to be loved. But of this, where am I? Nothing in this slick bairn's countenance speaks of the father. ...

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
